50 years
[edit]This year will be the 50th anniversary of the loss, which occurred on November 18, 1958. This would be the subject of a good DYK. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 22:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC) Stan

Coordinates
[edit]I found it nearly impossible to find any coordinates. odd, since there have been several dives. Could only find one site with "approximate" coordinates of 45°33′33″N 85°59′16″W / 45.55917°N 85.98778°W. Will keep looking. GeorgeofOrange (talk) 00:10, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
Other Freighter
[edit]So, the Edmund Fitzgerald was active at the time of the Carl D.'s sinking, though it's never really mentioned, presumably for obvious reasons. Likely en route to a steel mill, the Fitz was almost brand new, steaming to an area to unload some Iron-Taconite, likely received the Carl D.'s distress signal. Fitzgerald likely continued on her path due to the distance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimothy Johnathan (talk • contribs) 12:45, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
