Sporting Clube de GoaSC GoaConsistency with current naming conventions in Category:Football clubs in India. – 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™ 🗿 13:10, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don't think "SC Goa" is appropriate — because — official name of the club is not 'Sports Club Goa' or 'Sporting Club Goa'; it's "Sporting Clube de Goa" and by far it's an unique Portuguese characteristic, which usually can't be credited with general abbreviations! Hope it's better to make it unchanged until official changes in club name :) Billjones94 (talk) 08:49, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If Football Club Internazionale Milano can be Inter Milan and Real Madrid Club de Fútbol can be Real Madrid CF then I strongly believe that Sporting Clube de Goa can be SC Goa, without a single doubt. Current naming conventions in Category:Football clubs in India suggests that as well and this RM also fulfills the criteria for WP:CONSISTENT. You should support this proposal here and at the Sporting Bengaluru talk page. – 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™ 🗿 09:04, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sporting Clube is Goa is the official name of the club and it doesn't need to be changed. SC Goa makes it generic, forgettable, and difficult to tell it apart. Same as Sporting Club Bengaluru, the abbreviations can be used in other places when required, but please don't make the abbreviations the official names of clubs. Thank you. :) Writereditor19 (talk) 09:29, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose:
Sporting Club to SC is fine in Indian football circuit.
but the club name here is something in Portuguese, Sporting Clube de Goa should be fine Indfootball editor (talk) 14:35, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
