Quotient

[edit]

Isn't this called Quotient? Shubham389 (talk) 07:19, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent point, it looks like it. The page for Sheffield Shield says it's been used in that competition since 1893-94. It even determined the champions as far back as the 1931–32 Sheffield Shield season, though on that page it's called Average. It is the same stat though, as proved at https://www.espncricinfo.com/table/series/356263/season/1931/sheff-shield ESPN refers to it consistently as Quotient, it seems like we should add that name to this article? The major issue with calling it Quotient is that you get into Quotient and needing to disambiguate massively. It's already there as an "other use". If it's moved I feel you'll run into the issue of people adding links to Quotient by mistake and a pile of links ending up somewhere you really don't want them to. Plus it's been called different things. But, frankly, it's such a niche topic that it doesn't make that much difference imo Blue Square Thing (talk) 07:05, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
