Notable alumni
[edit]A whole bunch of new alumni have been added. Only people notable enough to have Wikipedia articles should be here. Unless the red linked names can be sourced then they will have to be removed. BlueValour 04:00, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
RE: Notable Alumni
[edit]Wikipedia articles shouldn't be a factor in determining the presence of famous Alumni there. More pragmatically, they should be handled on a case by case basis. The people who found the Mary Rose, for example, are quite well known (or they SHOULD be!) in the archeology world. Same goes for the inventor of the diving helmet. Some of them are perhaps more debatable than that, and you're right, should be sourced.
Also, this page needs linking to the "RHS" page. Everyone in England who knows it, refers to it that way.

Sorting of the article is wrong
[edit]For some reason, this article sorts under "m" in the categories. I tired added a DEFAULTSORT tag but even that didn't fix it. Jason Quinn (talk) 19:27, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
RHSA section
[edit]The editing of the RHSA section by members of the RHSA's GC is in contravention of several WP guidelines and will be reported. JustResignGC (talk) 21:23, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
This issue has now been resolved by the Dispute Resolution process. The email address must go. The links to RHSA and RHS Arms in the info box must go. The statement about the school not collecting subs must be cited. I have provided a citation and it can now stay.
Any reversion of my edits will immediately re-reported.

Noye's Fludde
[edit]I've just removed this interesting but unreferenced paragraph, but thought I'd display it here in case anyone can come up with a reference (I'll have a look myself later at a more civilised hour):
- Band members were part of the orchestra for the premier performance of Benjamin Britten's "Noye's Fludde" on 18 June 1958 in Orford Church, Suffolk, as part of the Aldeburgh Festival, with the English Opera Group and a local cast. Owen Brannigan sang Noye, and the conductor was Charles Mackerras. This performance was later available as an LP. They were also part of the performance in the following November at Southwark Cathedral in London. (at the South end of the "London Bridge" which is now in Lake Havasu. Nevada.)
Alfietucker (talk) 01:42, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
I supplied this article - Ken Franks (1953-1958) Blake 26, I was one of the bugle section that the School contributed to these performances. I don't remember the other members except for my buddy Beckett of Howe house. (Who remembers first names??) 70.72.58.5 (talk) 19:41, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
- User:70.72.58.5, I added your signature this time, but do please add this next time you post by adding four tildes to the end of your message.
- Very nice to have you aboard, and thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, as I've posted on your talk page, Wikipedia now on the whole only accepts material which can be supported by a published secondary source. I would very much like to include the information you provided if possible. Might you have, for instance, access to a copy of the LP given to the cast, which maybe might have some pertinent information or supporting documentation to confirm the information you have given (though I personally accept the authenticity of what you have recalled)? Or might there be a school magazine/journal which has details about this first performance and participation of pupils from the Royal Hospital School? Best wishes, Alfietucker (talk) 19:32, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've now reinstated some of that text, as I found a reliable source to back it up (by Imogen Holst). Alfietucker (talk) 22:14, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
