Prizes and awards

[edit]

There is a big difference between an encyclopaedia article and the body's website. The list of awards is clearly linked from the article so a full list of awards is both unnecessary and unencyclopaedic. I would add that this article lacks secondary sources and what this section needs is comment on the RCGP awards from reliable sources. TerriersFan (talk) 17:01, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Formation

[edit]

It was a bit before my time, but I think it was set up by a bunch of GPs who, apart from wanting to wear robes and eat decent dinners wanted to improve the standing of the craft, and to improve the practice of general practice. The pressures have always been there, and it is perhaps more relevant that the college (of which I am not a member) had not been set up prior to the NHS than to ascribe it to increased pressures. THere were a lot of changes going on.

(And care was no more provided free then than it is now - free at the point of care is true, but it is paid for by the State. GPs were relieved of the pressure of collecting their fees, and of carrying bad debts...) Midgley (talk) 12:06, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History with dates?

[edit]

When was the MRCGP first awarded (presumably 1952 to those who wished to join and paid the sub), and when did it become examined? Midgley (talk) 22:16, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Update BJGP cover image on page

[edit]

Hi Editor, Please would you update the cover image for the British Journal of General practitioners in the side margin, under "Publications, information services and archives". Please use the cover image from the BJGP page, (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/British_Journal_of_General_Practice) which was updated in March 2015 by editor "Diannaa" with the January 2015 image (referenced below). Many thanks, Simone (SimoneRCGP (talk) 15:15, 5 August 2015 (UTC))[reply]

"Hi Simone. I have uploaded a new cover of the magazine. I chose the January 2015 issue because the February and March covers both include images that are the property of Getty Images, and they are very strict about not allowing their stuff being reproduced here, even as non-free content.... -- Diannaa (talk) 21:46, 2 March 2015 (UTC)"
