[edit]It has been suggested that this page be merged with the Royal Air Force section. I don't agree with this as this entry is for an group of organisations that has more members in it than the regular Air Force and is the main brand name for the Air Cadet Organisation which consists of the Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Force who both have separate and significant pages of their own. - With such a short article, the significance of the subject is difficult to understand. Perhaps expanding the article with information referenced from 3rd party sources (newspapers, magazines, etc) would help clear this up.--RadioFan (talk) 12:56, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- Dont think it should be merged into the Royal Air Force although I think it should be deleted and Air Cadet Organisation moved to this name. MilborneOne (talk) 13:06, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's an excellent suggestion. Makes much more sense that way.--RadioFan (talk) 13:20, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that the deletion of Air Cadet Organisation is the way to go. My understanding of what has happened is that 'Royal Air Force Air Cadets' is a brand name for the 'Air Cadet Organisation'. This is the name that will appear in the press, on printed material etc, but organisationally within the Royal Air force and perhaps legally it is still the Air Cadet Organisation. So the ACO name does still exist as far as I know. If everyone feels its better to have only one of these entries the dilemma is which one gets the main title and which one is mentioned in the body text? Marky 12356 (talk) 12:06, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- Doesnt really matter as Air Cadet Organisation redirects to here, normally the name used is the common name used which is not always the legal name. MilborneOne (talk) 12:22, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- I see what you mean, the redirect works well, I'm happy with that. Thanks! Marky 12356 (talk) 22:26, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, MilborneOne - but people talking about Royal Air Force Air Cadets are normally talking about ATC or a CCF contingent, not HQAC. In that respect the article and redirect are certainly the wrong way round - which is probably what is causing the confusion and request for merge. DiverScout (talk) 13:35, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Article does not reflect its title, and lacks citations
[edit]The lead paragraph refers to The Air Cadet Organisation and no attempt is made to describe why it is entitled Royal Air Force Air Cadets. No citations exist in the entire article. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:16, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Royal Air Force Air Cadets is a brand name, used by the ACO, when promoting the ATC and Air Cadet CCF. Internally, it's referred to as the ACO, because it's not part of the RAF. Rob (talk/edits) 16:48, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- The article should be on the ACO with the brand name as a redirect. DiverScout (talk) 08:53, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Royal Air Force Air Cadets is the common name. See WP:COMMONNAME. – Rob (talk | contribs) 12:56, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Air Training Corps
[edit]Article concerns essentially the same organisation - insufficiently notable to merit it's own article Rob 301 (talk) 23:36, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Rob 301: "Essentially the same organisation" or "the same organisation"? Please define this with precision, for the words have different meanings. Is the ATC the exact same organisation as Royal Air Force Air Cadets? Fiddle Faddle 23:45, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- The ACO operates both the Air Training Corps and RAF contingents of the Combined Cadet Force. They're not the same organisation. The ATC is part of the ACO. What comes directly under the ACO, and what comes under the ATC is not currently very clear; however I'm sure if someone was to do some research, the information would be available. Rob, I understand your reasoning for wanting to merge, as the difference between the ACO and ATC is rather ambiguous, however it would be incorrect, and wouldn't make clear that the ATC and RAFCCF are part of the same organisation. Rob (talk/edits) 00:32, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- No. This article should be about the ACO command operation. The command operation oversees ATC and CCF, so is distinct. I suggest that this proposal be dropped speedily. DiverScout (talk) 08:53, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Age
[edit]How old are these cadets? 73.186.162.89 (talk) 15:33, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- Normally the RAFAC are aged between 13-19 even though in my squadron there is a cadet aged 11 - JJBullet (Talk) 09:38, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- I added a sentence about the starting age. -- Wire723 (talk) 15:21, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
