Bears place kickers

[edit]

I wouldn't say that LeClerc succeeded Bob Jenks as the Bears' kicker. Rather, they shared the job in 1963 (and maybe 1964). For some reason or other, LeClerc kicked the field goals and Jenks the extra points. I guess that the former had the stronger leg and the latter was more accurate, and they had the roster spot available. WHPratt (talk) 13:30, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Bears won the '63 title game 14-10. Roger didn't kick any field goals in that game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.218.185.192 (talk) 02:47, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

True. In that game, LeClerc missed 2 FGs, and Jenks kicked two PATs, which serves to prove my point. Looks as if the "succeeded" note has been removed. WHPratt (talk) 17:18, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Roger LeClerc (American football)Roger LeClerc – two-link DAB, 430 page views against 315 for Monsieur Roger LeClerc. That is an R to section, but the sitcom character in-universe is almost always called just "LeClerc" or "Monsieur LeClerc", so readers are unlikely to search for him using his forename 62.165.227.102 (talk) 08:28, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:33, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Comment the American footballer wasn't listed at the dismabiguation page Leclerc (surname) (to which LeClerc redirects), so I added him. The link for the 'Allo 'Allo character was to Roger LeClerc, the two-link disambiguation page, so I disambiguated those. Roger Leclerc currently redirects to the 'Allo 'Allo character. 62.165.227.102 (talk) 08:48, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My Google search results for '"Roger LeClerc -wikipedia" (general, and in news and books) are overwhelmingly about the footballer. 62.165.227.102 (talk) 09:20, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But vanilla Google brings up the TV character. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:45, 21 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It does, but my results are dominated by the footballer (I am not in the UK or US). Other than that I get only Wikipedia or a fansite at Wikia. Some (third-party) transcripts for Seasons 3 and 4 are available, and I searched every episode and the character is only ever called "Leclerc" or "M Leclerc" (spelled thus), and "Roger" is only ever used as a radio reply.
So it seems unlikely people search this way or even know the characters' first names. It is hard to find RS online that he is called Roger, and it varies how his surname is spelled (Wikiquote has it as "Leclerc", for example, as does this British television guide, which does credit Haig as "M Roger Leclerc" once, otherwise as "M Leclerc"). He's already at the TWODABS at Monsieur LeClerc and at the DAB at Leclerc (surname), so this is very much a question of WP:2DABPRIMARY. 62.165.227.102 (talk) 06:59, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
