Article name
[edit]Hello, my dear Wikipedia readers, writers, and editors. I suggest renaming this article to Rodrigo Hernández, which is this person's legal first and last name.
According to his profile on the official website of the club, as well as the backside of his jersey, he seems to have stopped using "Rodri" as his nickname.

Its a wrong fact about Rodri. He was only the highest paid transfer by City not the highest transfer paid in the premier league. The source (16) even says this. 83.75.210.192 (talk) 16:47, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Rodrigo
[edit]Since a few years he is known as Rodrigo. Rodri was is nickname in the first years of his career. Manchester City profile, Premier League profile, name on his jersey. --HSV1887 (talk) 10:25, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
- Although the websites you've listed does say "Rodrigo", the BBC website says "Rodri" in their latest PL match. However, 126,000 results for Rodri compared to 63,200,000 results for Rodrigo should actually mean he is commonly known as Rodrigo due to popularity of results shown. The page Rodrigo (footballer, born 1996) is currently a redirect to the Rodri (footballer) article.
- An auto-confirmed user has moved this page to the current article without (further) discussion to this thread. Per page history, this page has been moved five times with no discussions on any of them. Judging the amount of page results from Google Search, this page should be moved back to "Rodrigo (footballer, born 1996)" due to the popularity of compared versions. - If you google rodri "man city" and rodrigo "man city", you get more than 3.5 million results for the former and less than a million for the latter. – PeeJay 20:51, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
If you wish to move the article please use WP:RM. GiantSnowman 20:52, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Moved back per consensus that he is better known as Rodri, and because there are other footballers known by that name — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:41, 30 October 2019 (UTC) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:41, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Rodri (footballer) → Rodrigo (footballer, born 1996) – Club website and Premier League website mentioned on the above subject lists him as "Rodrigo" despite the BBC listing him as "Rodri" Iggy (Swan) (What I've been doing to maintain Wikipedia) 20:59, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- The club website also refers to him as "Rodri" in prose, but as "Rodrigo" in titles since the middle of August. Has there been a news article about the reason for the change? – PeeJay 21:48, 21 October 2019 (UTC)

- It looks like he was 'Rodrigo' in Spain - see eg this and this which UK media turned into Rodri? GiantSnowman 08:09, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- I've had a look at the Premier League website a second time where news about the player has the reporters typing in 'Rodri'. In response to PeeJay, the Guardian source says Rodrigo in the title but the third paragraph states "Generally known as Rodri, the player will wear the name Rodrigo on the back of his shirt." and says the smaller name further down. Therefore I should now think the title should stay as it is rather than moving it to a lesser known title from the "Man City" searches from Google. Iggy (Swan) (What I've been doing to maintain Wikipedia) 18:01, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment I would rather have the article moved to "Rodri (footballer, born 1996)" instead of "Rodrigo (footballer, born 1996)". Rodri seems to be more used than Rodrigo, for now, so I would keep it as such. Also, why did @Supercozmo move this article to "Rodri (footballer)"? There are multiple other footballers named Rodri as well. KingSkyLord (talk | contribs) 21:37, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- It's Rodrigo on his jersey.--HSV1887 (talk) 11:08, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Rodri's Height
[edit]Hi guys. This article lists Rodri's height as 1.90m, but he's actually 1.91m.
According to Transfermarkt, and Sportsmen Height and FIFA, his height stands at 191cm. Even football games like FIFA(EAFC 24) and Dream League Soccer have changed the height to 191cm. 180.129.93.24 (talk) 07:46, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Many different websites who have the same players on databases unfortunately give different values for player's heights, it's a general problem as multiple players's data have different height values as well as Rodri. The linked reference used for the height in this article gives 1.90m.
- By the way - transfermarkt is not a reliable source to use on Wikipedia so keep that in mind. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:37, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
We should add the line "he's considered one of the best defensive midfielders in the world"

[edit]Lead image should now probably be changed to an image of him doing his Ballon d'Or victory speech! It represents Rodri as a Ballon d'Or winner well. 92.17.141.194 (talk) 23:37, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
