Another Riverview Florida

[edit]

There is another Riverview Highschool in Riverview Florida. It is located at Boyette and Balm Riverview Dr. Their mascot is the Shark. I thought this was relevent, but perhaps not enough so to put in the actual article.

Major revision needed

I'm reluctant to say it, but this is a really peculiar article. It is almost entirely about the original RHS building and the Highlander Drum Corps! The only material actually devoted to the school are the two short introductory paragraphs and a short list of "Notable Alumni" which I just added (and which isn't terribly useful). Take a look at, say, Booker High School or Venice High School for the sorts of information usually found, and looked for, in an article about a high school. Where are sections on "History", "The Student Body", "The Faculty", "School Programs", "Awards", "Athletics"?

The coverage of the original building is detailed, illustrated, and well referenced. As such, it's my intention to try to convert it into an independent article, and then delete most of it from here.

The Highlander Drum Corps information poses a more difficult challenge. It includes an odd note, that "this portion of the article is influenced directly from the "About the HDC" section of the Official Website of the Highlander Drum Corps". That does not sound at all appropriate for a Wikipedia article. The referenced citation, however, leads, instead, to the official county Riverview page. In any case, much more information is provided than is appropriate for this article, and I do not feel capable of converting it into an independent article. I can probably convert it into a short paragraph, but that will entail removing much of the wording now overwhelming the article.

Does anyone else have thoughts about these issues? Any offers to help clean it up? Tim Ross (talk) 17:01, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
