Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the organization has been mentioned in the press enough to warrant an article. The article simply needs to be expanded further. Thank you. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:33, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring the article so the deletion could be contested. A simply Google search yields hundreds of results, including numerous newspaper sources. Please do not delete this article and let it remain here for future expansion. I hope to expand the article in the near future. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:05, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

...etc., etc. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:49, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article should not be speedily deleted because it demonstrates notability with two solid verifiable sources. Moreover, the article is in the midst of a public policy debate which is sure to increase its visibility and generate plenty of heat. —EncMstr (talk) 19:52, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was the one to apply the speedy deletion request a couple of weeks ago. Which was an incorrect decision based on the number of reliable sources.
However, I still have doubts concerning the notability. These kinds of occupy actions took place all over the world. This article is focussing on a Portland, Oregon case in detail. Which is local in nature, something which your mentioned sources show. This makes it somewhat harder to comply with WP:NONPROFIT criteria.
I believe this page was somewhat similar in scope: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Necessity Village.
Maybe someone could make this article seem more notable.

R2D2 and Dignity Village are under the umbrella of the same parent organization Right 2 Survive. On the national scale, I feel like it doesn't warrant a page for each cutesy named transient encampment, but rather consolidate them all into a section as city sanctioned transient camps. Graywalls (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Graywalls, There's likely enough coverage of both R2D2 and Dignity Village to justify standalone article. I'm not opposed to having one for Right 2 Survive as well, if you think there's enough coverage. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:42, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if they're of enough substance to warrant separate articles regardless of number of coverage. Controversial issues are bound to have series of follow-up articles locally but the summarized contents probably don't have enough to merit separate pages. I feel the same way about neighborhoods too. There's likely not enough substance to warrant each of 95 neighborhoods regardless of how many sources you can find that reference each one. Graywalls (talk) 18:54, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Graywalls, Sure, well, just for the record I support having entries for R2D2, Dignity Village, and Portland's neighborhoods. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:00, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another Believer, for example, this one is a sentence. Sabin,_Portland,_Oregon. Probably would be better served being sub-categorized within the next largest cluster, such as NE. Ideally. I can't be bothered with it though. Graywalls (talk) 19:07, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Graywalls, I disagree. The article should be kept and expanded, but let's not discuss other articles here. Happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:10, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Potential COI

[edit]

An edit from an IP belonging to the County of Multnomah was detected. I suspect potential COI, because, a program called Joint Office supports Right 2 Dream Too, per https://www.multco.us/johs/alternative-shelters . That program belongs to the county per https://www.portlandmercury.com/news/2023/05/26/46527557/city-leaders-lambast-joint-office-of-homeless-services-call-for-heightened-budget-scrutiny together with the edit summary "clarified what we do" at Special:Diff/1096817357 collectively rise to suspected COI editing.
