There is currently a notice for a proposed merger of this article with the one on pelisse posted in November 2018. I see no actual discussion was created, and so far no one has decided to create one. I have read both articles, and do not believe they are sufficiently similar in topic to warrant merging. Therefore I am closing this merger proposal as a failure, and removing the tags from both articles. If anyone would like to re-propose a merger at some point in the future, that option is certainly still available— feel free! A loose noose (talk) 10:26, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Redingote" currently redirects to frock coat, which appears to be entirely about the men's garment. Would it make more sense for that redirect to point here instead? -- Avocado (talk) 04:29, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In 2018, someone broke up Redingote and sent women's content to Riding habit and men's content to Frock coat. I put redirect-language from the women's-to-men's and from the men's-to-women's so readers could find which they want to read. The Redingote redirect still goes to Frock coat but to the anchor (section) "redingote".
Meanwhile, this article is bizarre since the person who put the women's redingote here, just pasted it without further merging. I also notice that there is a contemporary clothing article, Riding coat. I cannot tell from the content how quite to merge redingote into riding habit. In the meantime, I moved it to the bottom of the article. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 00:06, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
