Need help with making an entry for American Fashion Podcast

[edit]

I previously created a page tracking all the episodes of American Fashion Podcast, but it was deleted "because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic." I spent several hours figuring out how to post and inputting all the information, so it was really frustrating to have it deleted. Most of what I compiled did get rebuilt as the Episodes List page on the AFP site.

That was several months ago, and the show is now up past 60 episodes with a ton of interviews with both famous designers and lesser known behind the scenes artists, entrepreneurs, and educators. There is now press coverage from Harper's Bazaar, Huffington Post, Bustle, American Manufacturing, and Put This On.

I'm admittedly not very good at editing Wikipedia, the complex syntax really throws me. I would like to get some help in putting it together again, but right this time. added by Fashiontechguru 9pm EST, 22 August 2015, updated 11:30am on 23 August 2015

Olivia von Halle

[edit]

Hi. When I looked up this brand, I was taken to a BLP article about the person. Is this usual with eponymous fashion brands? The person doesn't appear to be NOTABLE aside from being the founder of the label. That is, the brand is more famous than she is. Just thought I'd ask this project if this is the normal thing or not. It might have been created by someone insufficiently familiar with the notability criteria. It seems like it would be easy to rework the article into one about the brand. Daniel Case (talk) 17:34, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to have a go at trying, although it's not really an area I have much experience in. I just wanted to check that it's not the usual practice to make the article about the person, not the brand, when the two share the same name. Looking at, say, Armani, it does seem that the brand comes first and that there is a separate one about the person, but he's of course famous, whereas von Halle the person isn't.NEDOCHAN (talk) 07:40, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks by the way, Daniel. Would anyone in this project be able to help change the focus of the article so it conforms with similar fashion label articles?NEDOCHAN (talk) 08:06, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have had a go at changing the focus of the article, which I think has already made an improvement, but I would be grateful if someone from this project could refine it so it's in keeping with similar article elsewhere on Wikipedia.NEDOCHAN (talk) 15:06, 12 September 2024

Inclusion discussion: CFDA x Tiffany & Co Jewelry Designer Awards

[edit]

Hi All,

I added the information about "CFDA x Tiffany & Co Jewelry Designer Awards" on both articles. CFDA fell under Programs subheading and Tiffany & Co. fell under Philanthropy.

This is a 2024 social impact initiative that seeks to increase visibility for and diversity within American jewelry designers. Citations included New York Times and National Jeweler.

I was personally targeted by an editor who first requested that I changed citations (I had errantly used cfda.com as an initial citation.) Once that was corrected they disputed inclusion altogether.

It feels like a very straight forward add to me, but in the interest of consensus can we please discuss on the Tiffany & Co. talk page?

Thank you! Crash0ut (talk) 04:01, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
