- Both of these again just passively mention the engine being used in the mobile ports, which isn't ideal for establishing independent notability. Are there any more that only talk about the engine, such as the toucharcade.com one? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:48, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'll take a look in a bit. ~ TheJoebro64 (talk) 22:04, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Coming back to this, have you found anything? Right now the only real source is the toucharcade.com one, the rest really shouldn't count towards its notability. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:52, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- Unfortunately no, mostly just game review mentions and interviews is what came up. I wouldn't oppose merging to the main Christian Whitehead article, actually (even though I created this page). If we combine this with some info about his life and career, we could actually make Whitehead's page a good-looking article. ~ TheJoebro64 (talk) 20:04, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- I agree, actually. I'll leave the merging up to you, if you decide to do it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:57, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'd support this resolution as well. JoeBro would be a better candidate to do the actual merge though, since these subjects seem to really be his passion. Sergecross73 msg me 16:36, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Sonic Mania Plus
[edit]Since this continues to be added to the list, I think this should be discussed before it is again. Arguments for it would be that it being a standalone, physical release (for consoles) gives it more weight than just some special digital edition like it is on Steam. However, counter-arguments would be that we usually don't add these sort of enhanced/DLC games to other engine pages. I'm fine with either as long we are all on the same page, but I slightly prefer omitting it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:49, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't think it should be added. If the main game uses the engine, what's the point of adding DLC? It's redundant. JOEBRO64 21:13, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
Star Engine
[edit]I don't think the entire article should be moved or changed yet to reflect a renaming for which no games use yet. Also, the whole new studio thing could use a better source than just the official website and Twitter, but that's only preferable and not required. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:10, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
- But shouldn't the name change be reflected in the lead? I think it's misleading to just keep treating the original name as the current name like that. I mean, I agree we shouldn't move yet since "Retro Engine" is still the common name, but what's the problem with mentioning it in the lead? JOEBRO64 12:23, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'm kinda with Dissident on this. It seems that Star Engine is more like a new engine being built from the Retro Engine as a basis, rather than a re-branding of the Retro Engine. At least the wording on the official page gives me that feeling. TarkusABtalk 12:57, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
- It should be mentioned for sure, but replacing every other mention of Retro Engine with Star Engine, when that's 99% of the article's scope, just seems odd to me. Not to mention it could be an offshoot of it anyway, per Tarkus. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 04:46, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Christan Whitehead quotes from his Twitter account
[edit]I have seen it many times here in the view history of this page that someone will try to add newly discovered retro engine information and try to use Christan Whitehead's Twitter account as a source, as it's not usually covered elsewhere. Every single time this happens someone comes in and manually edits out this new info along with butchering already existing parts of the page, saying "Twitter is not a source". We know for a fact this is his legitimate account, so I don't see how something Christan states himself on the internet becomes fake/illegitimate info just because of the platform he is using. Can someone please elaborate on why this isn't allowed? Does it specifically say somewhere in the wikipedia rules "grrr twitter is a bad unprofessional site we must blacklist and prevent any citations using it"??? Joe Weigman (talk) 19:16, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- Joe Weigman, it's more to do with random people claiming things and less to do with first-hand sources, which his Twitter account would be. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:01, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Open-source Sonic Mania decompilation released
[edit]A decompilation of Sonic Mania was released on the game's 5th anniversary. I think the article should mention this, since it mentioned the decompilations of the prior three Sonic games made with the engine. — NES Boy (talk) 09:11, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
