Alumni
[edit]Are half of the people on the Notable Alumni list even significant enough to be on that list? And is there evidence for all the people on there that they attended this high school? --Ultra fob 19:22, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- You're right several people who were listed aren't actually alumni. I removed some of the obviously false ones (L. Ron Hubbard for example) but I didn't have time to check all the others. RyGuy17 18:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Someone still is deleting the Traci Lords reference...
[edit]23:52, 4 September 2006
- Not sure who deleted the Traci Lords reference, but that was pretty stupid. I'm an alumni 80-84 and I remember her and she is in my yearbook. Just because it doesn't match the nice advertisement some people have put together doesn't mean it gets deleted. That is really against the spirit of the Wikipedia...
22:24, 17 October 2006
- That someone would be me, please WP:CITE a reliable source for this, or it will continue to be removed as per our strict WP:BLP policy. Thanks, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 05:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- I realize that this may cause some dismay to some alumni, but I am a 1984 alumni and she was in one of my classes and is in my yearbook - 1983, volume 67, page 214 & 1984, volume 68 page 192. Nora Kuzma. Any simple search of internet bios will also provide multiple citations as to her stint at RUHS. The WP:CITE requirement seems to be a stubborness on your part to have this widely known info shown. It doesn't black-eye the school at all - I even taught there as a substitute teacher from 1989 through 1991. Annihilating the small-minded 09:08, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- I also object to your PC re-wording of "infamous porn star" to "American Actress". Your white-washing for the entry really does a disservice to Wikipedia. I see "Reknowned Opera Singer" as a descriptive for another entry, why you feel the need to police the descriptions is beyond me. Annihilating the small-minded 09:08, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- Now it's been deleted again... Assuming it it is the same user, who are you - Can't sleep, clown will eat me - that you decide who can and can't be listed in this article? Why you bother participating in the Wiki environment boggles my mind when you have nothing of the spirit that caused this to be founded? Annihilating the small-minded 09:08, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
March 2007
I don't know about "American Actress" necessarily -- her infamy comes from the fact that she had INTENT to go into the adult film industry while still illegal, then revealed that after she had only released 1 film of age and under a new production company which entitled her to majority of the profits. So, after building a name for herself she got all but 1 vid pulled... thus not an "infamous" porn star or an "actress" necessarily. I suggest "Adult Film Actress / Entrepeneur" or something to that effect. If you're worried about it being a "black-eye" for the school stop -- i love my alma matter but this school's got enough stuff going on now that overshadows this tidbit for sure 72.67.225.200 04:27, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Jake Israel 2005
JROTC
[edit]I didn't see anything about Redondo's MCJROTC program... many students commit long hours before and after school to staff meetings, Drill Team, Color Guard, Marksmanship, leadership, etc. etc. Also, Redondo's MCJROTC has contibuted countless hours to civic service. I'd like to see something something posted, even if it's just a couple sentences.

Churn
[edit]There seems to be a lot of churn on this page lately, most of it due to the edits of about 3 people. Could the parties in question stop by here and explain some of their edits? As an RUHS alum, it disturbs me that people seem to be battling over massive chunks of the page... there's really no good reason for people to remove huge chunks of each other's contributions without at least giving a reason here (on the talk page). Thanks! User:Glenn Willen (Talk) 01:49, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not sure about large chunks, but my simple one line addition to notable alumni of Traci Lords keeps getting deleted by "Can't sleep, clown will eat me". I'm an '84 Grad and attended with her, I have the yearbooks... See discussion above, where I've gotten pretty heated about the continued deletion. It's fairly absurd, but my natural stubborness keeps me coming back to add the notation again and again. 12:51, 11 November 2006
Faculty listing
[edit]I jsut deleted the faculty section. Please consult WP:SCH#WNTI, which is a guide from the Wikischools Project as to what not include in articles about schools. In short, lists of faculty (including direct links to a list/extensions, counselors, etc are not good ideas. The principal is noted in the infobox, and the school website is there as a link to more up-to-date information. Keep in mind, this is an encyclopedia article, not the school home page. Best of luck editing! LonelyBeacon (talk) 17:50, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Academic Decathlon
[edit]RUHS placed 31 (out of 566) in the Academic Decathlon in the State competition winning 9 medals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.92.44.71 (talk) 20:10, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Someone keeps taking off the reference of Academic Decathlon winning all the medals this year. It only references last year (2008). This year Academic Decathlon went to State. I think it's just as important than last year. My child worked very hard and should be recognized. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.190.58.91 (talk) 15:25, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Academic decathlon team went to State in 2009. that deserves to be mentioned as Awards for the School. Somebody is trying to hide this impotant issue —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.16.86.72 (talk) 17:42, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Media Appearances
[edit]"Tequila Sunrise" (1988) should be added as its main characters (played by Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell) both attended RUHS, mentioned in a scene with Michelle Pfeiffer. Kurt Russell's character shows off his Zippo lighter emblazoned with the high school's name and crest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.69.248.21 (talk) 19:27, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Lynette Fromme
[edit]There are multiple web resources that confirm that Lynette Fromme graduated from Westcheter High School. In light of this, her name should be removed from the "Notable alumni" section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.61.20.206 (talk) 13:18, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- I believe that she attended both schools.Sapiens scriptor (talk) 04:26, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

High Tide
[edit]Hey everyone,
I think there should be a Wikipedia page dedicated to Redondo Union High School’s Student Newspaper the High Tide. The High Tide has been around since 1920 and has been referenced in Redondo Beach’s local media and local Los Angles County media, and has been the recipient for of the Gold Crown and Peacemaker Awards for Student Journalism. There is an enrich history on the High Tide and I feel that it deserves its own Wikipedia page.
I wanted to make this post to put the word out, and see what Wikipedia users feel about this. I am fairly new to Wikipedia and new to making Wikipedia pages. I ask that if someone is also interested to make a Wikipedia page for the High Tide to please make one. If someone is interested into making a page, I will be happy to list as much references that the High Tide is in to help with the page’s creation. Though I could make a draft and try my best to make a page, and have feedback on the page. Nicktyo (talk) 01:10, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
