Why no mention of the activities of Bearwood during World War II? The school expanded enormously as many ships were lost. It accepted girls as well as boys. The main boys' houses were Drake, Frobisher, Raleigh and Hawkins. At some time about 1943, a junior house was formed, called Grenville. Subsequently the junior school was moved to Bexhill. The band frequently played at local garden parties. The choir sang at a special performance in the Albert Hall of a choral/brass band composition about the Dunkirk rescue, called "The Rainbow". The patron of the school was the then Princess Elizabeth, who came to award prizes on 26 July 1947. Bearwood was not at that time accredited by the Ministry of Education as a school. That did not happen until the 1950s or later. 86.154.219.29 (talk) 20:12, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Missing info?
[edit]I have tagged the article with "recentism" as there is very little (nothing, really) about the school's history as the Merchant Seamans' Orphanage. Tacyarg (talk) 02:02, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
- Have removed this as it has been resolved. Tacyarg (talk) 12:25, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
