I don't know who put the tag but I agree. The song doesn't need an article for each release. For example, see Fell in Love With a Girl. Frédérick Lacasse (talk · contribs) 21:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Radio free eur.jpg

[edit]

Image:Radio free eur.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The song doesn't end on the 'tonic chord'

[edit]

In the interests of accuracy, Radio Free Europe (which I have been playing since my teens) does not end on the 'tonic chord' (which would be E) but on the IV or subdominant. I see that this has been sourced, but if so the source got it wrong. It's also not so wildly unusual for an REM song to end on the subdominant - off the top of my head, from the Murmur album alone both 'Pilgrimage' and 'Moral Kiosk' end on the subdominant. (At the risk of being over-pedantic, Moral Kiosk strictly speaking ends on the relative subdominant.) In any case, I have cut the line about the song ending on the tonic. Genre

[edit]

Thanks to Koavf (talk · contribs) for maintaining the genre tag against misguided attempts to call this song punk rock. No credible source could call it punk. Jangle pop, maybe, by association with Mitch Easter. Lwarrenwiki (talk) 14:32, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lwarrenwiki: This is really straightforward and we need sources rather than genre warring. If any source said that this was a punk song, this might be a different story. None of them do. —Justin (koavf)TCM 14:57, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
