Suggestions

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

You may wish to browse through User:AndyZ/Suggestions for further ideas. Thanks, — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 08:55, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, a few of my suggestions:
  • Remove citations from lead per WP:CITELEAD
  • Try to make the article have a better flow. Some sentences are quite short and can easily be merged with other sentences.
  • Expand the infobox: There are many more parameters that can be filled there; there isn't even a link to the website!
  • External links should go above references (at least I believe)
  • In § Development, it seems to read as more a timeline than an actual paragraph
  • There are some sections that can easily be merged, for example § Players, is this really worth a whole section?
  • This is just my opinion, but the article seems to go into a bit too much detail. All of the sets include a code that can be used to redeem virtual items.
Once again, just some of my opinions, I may be completely wrong! — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 09:05, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Berrely, I've implemented a couple of your suggestions, there is a bit of a problem with LEADCITE, since most of the content in the lead is not actually cited elsewhere in the article, we have to keep the citations there for now, or otherwise it would fail WP:V. I'm not entirely sure how to fix that at the moment, but expanding the "Development" section (which is definitely the weakest one IMO) to include a more general overview of the history of Roblox might help, and would also help with the other problems with that section. I am fairly sure, from looking at a few prominent articles, that References are supposed to be above external links though. Devonian Wombat (talk) 03:46, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Devonian Wombat, sorry for replying so late! Apologies I was viewing on mobile and got confused by the references, you are correct on that front. The reason there shouldn't be citations in the lead is that the lead is meant to relay information already said in the article, but this is not a huge problem. Good job on massively improving this article (really comparing the current article from when you first edited it and now is astounding)! — Yours, Berrely • TalkContribs 09:19, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suggest splitting the Erik Cassel article from ROBLOX; Why on earth is Erik Cassel not a separate article? Erik is a vital person to ROBLOX's history, and articles like Alex Balfanz, Uplift Games or Adopt Me! have already been developed without any questioning from the community, so the Erik Cassel page should also be a separate one from ROBLOX. This does not deserve to be a redirect page. It's way more important than that. He also doesn't have a minor appearance like the developers mentioned in this, he literally was one of the creators of the game. MatEditzWiki (talk 15:03, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is not inherited. Every topic is evaluated separately. For Erik Cassel to have an article, reliable secondary sourcing that meets WP:GNG must be provided. -- ferret (talk) 15:10, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good source for Erik Cassel's huge involvement in Roblox - [1][2] I believe these two together at minimum are sufficient reliable secondary sources. Countless articles from large outlets mention and build upon this trove of information. Shredux (talk) 23:06, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

outdated information

roblox is not banned in the uae, it has been unbanned for sometime now TTTTRZON (talk) 09:22, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This article has multiple problems. The outdated ban information as you mentioned, there's no information on UGC being made public, and some other things. While I can't edit it myself, I feel like two thinks could be added. A portion on Ruben Sim's efforts to help the community by getting rid of the disgusting things, and maybe a separate page on lawsuits that Roblox has been involved in. Ruben Sim, I feel, would go well in Inappropriate content and predatory behavior, and as I said before, the lawsuits could be their own page. This article, overall, needs a lot of updating and cleaning up. Erin (SSBelfastFanatic) (talk) 18:29, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If youcan provide reliable sources that document these recent changes, then I will make the necessary adjustments to the article if they are relevant. But some of these don't seem relevant, especially the Ruben Sim thing, as he's no more than a minor figure that doesn't have any mentions in sources post-lawsuit, and has no place on an article about the platform itself. And I'm not sure what you think needs "cleaning up", the article seems fine besides a few outdated tidbits. λ NegativeMP1 18:44, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I could not find any coverage of Ruben's attempts to clean up Roblox besides his own videos, so I'll put that aside unless I can find something else on it. If you want clarification on anything else feel free to just ask! Erin (SSBelfastFanatic) (talk) 18:52, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure about the reliability of some of these sources, but the ones that are reliable I'll certainly see if could be implemented into the article in a meaningful manner. Thank you! λ NegativeMP1 19:15, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roblox Studio closed with consensus to merge here. It's been a month and the merger still has not been completed. Rusty 🐈 14:23, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirected. Been long enough, any details that still need merged can always been recovered from the article history. -- ferret (talk) 14:43, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's Luau (no italics), right?

I would fix this myself, but I don't have adequate permissions as of right now. The Luau website seems to only use Luau on the front page to emphasize that it's different from Lua, and it uses Luau (no italics) everywhere else. Can someone correct this or explain why I'm mistaken? Based5290 :3 (talk) 21:23, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding DynaBlocks

Evidence suggests that Roblox has been known as "Roblox" since the beginning of 2004, rather than being renamed from "DynaBlocks" in 2005 like the article claims.

In the publicly-available PowerPoint slides of a Casual Connect USA 2013 presentation delivered by David Baszucki, it is stated that both "DynaBlocks" and "GoBlocks" were "potential names" for Roblox, implying that they were ultimately unused. The domains dynablocks.com, dynablock.com, and goblocks.com were registered in December 2003, while roblox.com was registered in January 2004. The company was incorporated as "Roblox Corporation" in March 2004. From the site itself, the earliest surviving forum post from July 2004 and login page from August 2004 both refer to the platform as "Roblox".

Seems that "DynaBlocks" was nothing more than a working title that was discarded very early in Roblox's development, only going on to be used as a redirect to roblox.com. So where did the whole "Roblox was DynaBlocks till 2005" claim come from? Seems that it was an unsourced claim added to the article in August 2014, as the BusinessWeek source next to the claim was present in the article before the edit and makes no mention of DynaBlocks. It can be inferred that the article's current source for the claim, a Your Tech Story post from 2019, sourced this information from the wiki article itself, which would make its inclusion a case of WP:CIRCULAR.

The article should be corrected to state that "DynaBlocks" and "GoBlocks" were working titles for Roblox, and the claim that the company renamed to "Roblox" in 2005 should be removed. Mystyle48 (talk) 18:56, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding information about Turkey banning Roblox because of child exploitation

Hello. Someone should add a mention about Roblox being banned in Turkey in the "Alleged exploitative practices towards children" section and maybe also that it's being investigated in Brazil. Also, why is there no "See also" section? Wiktorpyk (talk) 09:53, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should we make "Block Tales" an Article?

Should we make the game "Block Tales" a separate article, or should we put it inside of Roblox?

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 20:26, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The UAE unbanned Roblox in 2021

The UAE lifted Roblox' ban in 2021 but this article still has the UAE as one of the countries that banned Roblox, this needs to be updated because it's outdated information. AhmedEdits (talk) 13:12, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
