Does the current school claim a foundation date of 1561? I note that after amalgamation and change to academy status it closed in 2016 for a "fresh start" according to the government web site. The school at the time was in special measures.[1] Does this count as "continuous"? Closed for a fresh start sounds like a break to me. It is generally considered that conversion to academy status etc does not constitute a 'new' school, as the school continues with the same pupils, staff and (usually) buildings. 'Fresh start' is simply Department of Education speak for the school being given a new sponsor. Again the school continues with the same pupils, staff and buildings. Fair enough. You're an experienced editor and have clearly investigated what's been happening. That's why I raised the issue and didn't wade in removing things.
