WikiProject class rating
[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 10:30, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am provisionally pushing the rating of this article from "stub" to "start". I believe it is sufficiently expanded and referenced to at least make it a start. I would prefer if a more experienced editor from WPSchools would confirm that assessment. LonelyBeacon (talk) 04:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Could someone check the validity that Frank Lloyd Wright went to this school? I graduated from Proviso East, and if he did attend it they failed to mention it during homeroom announcements. User:jhendin 19:56 20 November 2008. —Preceding undated comment was added at 00:58, 21 November 2008 (UTC).
Assessment
[edit]I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools and granting it B/High. Seems to be a solid B-class article, though a few areas could be improved. The Academics section is rather short, could any more information be found? More information on non-curricular activities other than athletics might be good also. There is also a referencing error, plus a few ref gaps in the alumni section. The schools eventful history and alumni certainly give this article High importance, perhaps Top, though more discussion would be needed for the latter. Also, I am listing this as another potential GA candidate. Camaron · Christopher · talk 12:02, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Alumni
[edit]I have removed the following alumni from the article:
- Don Digirolamo Oscar winner (1982), Emmy Award winner (1998), 7 nominations, Best Sound Mixing [citation needed]
I am new to wikipedia editing so I may be making an error editing here. I am planning to Don back to the page as he is a classmate of mine from 1967, I also know this to be his career field and that he has worked in the LA CA.area for decades. I just traded email with him and confirmed his awards and nominations. I plan to add citations aiming at the Oscar and Emmey web pages where he is listed as a winner if that is considered a proper source. I assume IMDB is not a proper source. His awards and nominations are all listed at IMDB. Is a reliable source for him going to PEHS his yearbook entry or must it be a mentioned in print for it to be allowed here. Like I said I'm new here so I won't add him back until I get some feedback on my proposed actions.
BTW Don does not know Tony DiGirolamo. Just trying now to add my signature. Bubrahucuze (talk) 04:40, 31 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bubrahucuze (talk • contribs) 04:07, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hiya Bubrahucuze!
- I would say that if you can find a source that meets the requirements at Wikipedia's criteria for reliable sources, then you shouldn't have a problem readding this person to the notable alumni list. The source can be a print source, or it can be electronic. IMDB is not generally considered a reliable source, per sé. A yearbook also would not, per sé, be a reliable source as it could list someone with the same name who is not the actual individual. What you need is a source that ties this person to the school. IMDB would be an acceptable source (I think) for confirming the honors he has won, but it would not be acceptable in terms of confirming his "alumniship" (for lack of a better word).
- If a later yearbook (for example) chronicled his return to campus to give a talk or something like that, this would be an acceptable source, because it ties the known person to the school. Best of luck! LonelyBeacon (talk) 20:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Tony DiGirolamo Emmy winner, Best Lighting Design (1978) Henry Winkler Meets Wm Shakespeare 7 nominations, 3x Sesame St[citation needed]
Even though they are red linked, they may have an assertion of notability. However, even with that, they should not be added unless there is a reliable source confirming they are alumni. LonelyBeacon (talk) 15:46, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
