Explain Douady-Hubbard ray connection

"The Prouhet-Thue-Morse constant occurs as the angle of the Douady-Hubbard ray at the end of the sequence of western bulbs of the Mandelbrot set. This can be easily understood due to the nature of period doubling in the Mandelbrot set." Not the Thue constant I know

Thue constant redirects here at the moment. The constant I've come across having that name [1] [2] is quite different, but still defined by a binary sequence.

Does anybody know enough about this to write about it? Moreover, maybe there's a name for the general class of numbers to which this constant belongs - numbers defined by iterated substitution mappings in some number base. Can anyone enlighten? — Smjg (talk) 18:02, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
