The result of the move request was: Moved by Drmies. * Pppery * has returned 01:45, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Chabad of Poway Synagogue ShootingPoway synagogue shooting – "Shooting" is a common noun. Also, articles like Beslan school siege and Utrecht tram shooting have city names in their titles, the specific location is not needed. —Wei4Green | 唯绿远大 (talk) 23:14, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Yes. Intuitive. Let's aim for a snow close, since the longer we have the move tag on, the longer this high-traffic article suffers. El_C 23:27, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
El_C I'm just going to be bold and take care of this; we can always fight over things later. Drmies (talk) 23:30, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Even more intuitive. El_C 23:33, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Weeeeeell it's not just intuition; I also went to Costco today where they had some crazy sales on gin. Cheers, Drmies (talk) 23:35, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
Too bad it's been reverted. And here I thought this was gonna be easy. El_C 23:46, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
@Drmies: The page was moved back. I'm calling Hnolson to join this discussion. —Wei4Green | 唯绿远大 (talk) 23:47, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Being the creator of the article I support in reverting its original name. Chabad of poway is too long of a name to search for and most news articles reporting on this attack are referring to it as "Poway shooting" examples including the Wall Street Journal or CNN or the Washington Post, many which are on the sources of the article. Proudpakistani11 (talk) 23:49, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Support move to proposed MOS-compliant title. As the only Poway synagogue shooting, this does not require further disambiguation in the title. Move-warring does not serve our readers, so let's settle this and move on. Bakazaka (talk) 23:50, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Support per Bakazaka. Funcrunch (talk) 23:59, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Oppose For historical purposes titles should be clear and accurate. hnolson (talk) 23:59, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
hnolson, please don't go around moving pages without a good reason, never mind consensus. Seriously. Drmies (talk) 00:26, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
@Drmies: Actually, there was no consensus reached during the two times hnolson moved the page. Even if you call it a consensus, it was only 3 people. —Wei4Green | 唯绿远大 (talk) 00:30, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
You're right, what do I know--I don't have a lot of experience here. And still hnolson shouldn't go around moving shit without even discussing that they're doing it. Gotta love the "actually". Drmies (talk) 00:34, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Consensus on Wikipedia does not mean unanimity (which is ideal but not always achievable), neither is it the result of a vote. Decision making and reaching consensus involve an effort to incorporate all editors' legitimate concerns, while respecting Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Wei4Green | 唯绿远大 (talk) 00:41, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
It's clear consensus is to go with convention, it's just unfortunate we still have to go through the motions. El_C 00:36, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Coordinates incorrect

Says

"Coordinates: Missing latitude Coordinates: Coordinates: Missing latitude Invalid arguments have been passed to the {{#coordinates:}} function"

Could someone fix this Sergei zavorotko (talk) 03:28, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Done. Deor (talk) 06:25, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Alleged

Is there some reason why the word "allegedly" is being removed in describing the suspect's role in the crime? I thought that we need to use the term "allegedly" in a case such as this? Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:21, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

It seems that it has been added back in. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 20:02, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Trump Video and PBS News Hour mention

The PBS News Hour from tonight mentioned Trump's speech a day or so the shooting[1]. I thought I'd put it here on the talk page, although I don't know if it belongs in the article.

President Trump comments "I was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E Lee a great general whether you like it or not he was one of the great generals I've spoken to many generals here right at the White House and many people thought of the generals they think that he was maybe their favorite general people were there protesting the taking down of the monument of Robert E Lee everybody knows that."

Victor Grigas (talk) 04:39, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

No, I certainly wouldn't put the file in the article; that would be UNDUE and not sufficiently related to the shootings. -- MelanieN (talk) 01:39, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Location of shooting

As more updated news reports come in, and Rabbi Goldstein is doing interviews on The Today Show, CNN, and other major media, it is increasingly apparent that the attack did not take place in the synagogue sanctuary, but in a lobby or banquet hall area. Yoninah (talk) 11:38, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

This is probably definitive. It says the first shootings (Mrs. Kaye and the rabbi) took place in the foyer, and the subsequent shootings in "a room full of congregation members" (actual room not identified). That's from a SD County deputy DA. I think we can put that in the article. And maybe we'd better remove the claim that the shootings occurred during his sermon, since he would hardly have been preaching in the foyer. -- MelanieN (talk) 01:37, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
 Done -- MelanieN (talk) 01:54, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
@MelanieN: thank you. Yoninah (talk) 12:54, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Could someone upload this image from the White House website? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:54, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Phone call

I thought that I read that the shooter made a call to 911 and confessed. Is that accurate? The article does not mention this. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:19, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Agreed that this is a significant detail; I've added it to the article. Funcrunch (talk) 18:46, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
