New Edit

[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I added a hyperlink for Amphiprion ocellaris into your article. I am a part of a Behavioral Ecology Class (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Education_Program:Washington_University_in_St._Louis/Behavioral_Ecology_%28Fall_2013%29) Washington University and our assignment was to create hyperlinks from our articles to other articles as examples. Best of luck with your article!! Gseehra123 (talk) 22:13, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to merge Damselfish into Pomacentridae

[edit]

The only thing that makes the damselfish article unique is that it excludes clownfish, but I'm not sure if that's a good reason to have two separate articles. All the info on that article could be added to Pomacentridae instead, since there's not too much on here aside from taxonomy and a bit of life history info. Perhaps the page name could also be changed to Damselfish. Geekgecko (talk) 19:37, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. The clownfish is a unique group that should not be 'included' in damselfish. The little bit of life history and taxonomy can potentially confuse readers. Take it in the mind of somebody who bought a damselfish. They don't realize they've been redirected to Pomacentridae when they searched 'damselfish' for care instructions. They scroll very quickly and see 'mutual relationships with anemones' while ignoring the part that say 'clownfish have' (I think I would add those; almost 100% of Pomacentridae is about damselfish not clownfish). They put a large anemone in their tank and their damselfish get stung. This would anger new fish keepers and other novice readers. For this reason I think two separate articles for damselfish, clownfish, and Pomacentridae. Jj1691 (talk) 22:24, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Closing with no merge given the uncontested objection and no support, with stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 13:54, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
