Does endorsement by a senator who happened to be shot equate to gun control policy?

I feel like this sentence fragment should be updated:

  "During her run for Senate, Harris was endorsed by former U.S. Representative Gabby Gifford's, who was shot in Tucson in 2011,:

The implication is that Gabby Gifford's endorsement equates to support for gun control because gabby was shot and that encouraged her to be pro gun control, but I don't like relaying on implication alone. If Gabby is a strong supporter of gun control legislation then we should cite that directly rather then leaving it up to implication. Honestly unless Gabby explicitly said her endorsement was *because* of Harris's policies about guns I'm not sure it's relevant here. There are many reasons a democrat may endorse another democrat, just because one is pro gun control and endorses another does not mean that the other must therefor be pro gun control. Capital Punishment

I am contemplating an edit to the Capital Punishment section. It may be controversial, so Im discussing before editing. Sen. Harris position on capital punishment has shifted over the years. As District Attorney of San Francisco she strongly opposed capital punishment. As Attorney General of California her office prosecuted capital punishment cases, and opposed efforts to allow potentially innocent persons from accessing exculpatory evidence. As a United States Senator she has co-sponsored bills to eliminate Federal capital punishment, yet would permit the states to continue to go their own way. Crime

Back on Track

In 2005, Kamala Harris, District Attorney for San Francisco, launched Back on Track (BOT), a reentry initiative aimed at reducing recidivism among low-level drug-trafficking defendants. Combining strict accountability with real opportunities for self improvement, BOT reports that less than 10 percent of its graduates reoffend—a success achieved, moreover, at a fraction of the cost of traditional prosecution and jail time. BOT costs approximately $5,000 per participant, compared with $10,000 to adjudicate a case and nearly $50,000 per year to house a low-level offender in prison or jail.^[1]

Climate Change/Energy & Environment

Clean up abortion section

I've been doing some cleanup, but most of this section doesn't relate to KH's political positions; rather it seems to be raising controversies to try to portray her in a negative light. KH's position on abortion is all that needs to be stated. She's pro-choice. Nuff said. Seananony (talk) 04:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever. She is extreme liberal on everything.

The piece here is doctored and fact-check: FALSE by numerous omissions such as her positions to de-fund the police, not enforce border laws, big spending on which she cast many tie-breaking votes and of course abortion with no limits at all.

Wikipedia's entry here is more of the cover-up and lies from democrats and the Biden administration in particular.

And before Biden withdrew his nomination (for unstated reasons, which he has never explained), she was not considered to be an asset due to her constant gaffes and losing 92% of her staff due to her workplace anger and derision.

Her record is being scrubbed for political reasons here just as with televised and cable news broadcasts and print media.

She no longer stands by her own record and statements. She is a radical San Francisco liberal. And she should just own it and run on it.

Fake, false and full of omissions on this profile of Kamala Harris.

Grocery prices

Harris said the 1.6% profit margin for supermarkets was "excessive," and she wants to impose price controls on food.

Economists responded by saying that this would cause food shortages.

This is receiving a massive amount of news coverage. I think it should be included in the article.

Social Issues - criminal justice

This section's inclusion of the Floyd tweet (without donating) seems awkward since it essentially acts as a Trojan Horse to add criticism by Trump. I'm not against adding criticism by Trump or anyone notable, but perhaps it would would be better suited to a section specifically for criticism. Unreasonable deletion of "lifetime ratings" table

A lifetime ratings table was deleted, without reasonable justification:

remove table which is not referred to anywhere in the body text

I do not think that the presence of tables should be justified by text. This user removed the efforts of another one, without a reasonable motivation and without any attempt to improve the situation.
