Not "Political Lesbians", Sexist Women

[edit]

most of these political "lesbians" are actually heterosexual or bisexual women that disguise their sexism and hatred of men by calling themselves "political" or "activist" lesbians. this should be mentioned in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.6.11.13 (talk) 23:00, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You personal opinion doesn't belong in the article, any more than my personal experience: I used to date a bisexual law professor and chair of the Women's Studies Group at a major university who called herself a "political lesbian". For her, that meant that she went to lesbian political events, identified publicly as a lesbian, etc. It most certainly did not mean that she didn't sleep with men. I was introduced to her by one of her former lovers, a male coworker. When I met her she was involved with yet another man ... we got together when he dumped her. -- 71.102.133.229 (talk) 00:21, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well - while i totally disagree that political lesbianism is related to "man-hate", people fail to acknowledge that the concept is quite harmful to the LGTB community... It keeps implying that sexuality is socially constructed and thus a result of upbringing or environment --> it pretty much states upbringing, environment, or even an individual decision defines sexuality. You can NOT get around this by trying to intellectualize it, this IS in a nutshell the consequence of the concept...
If you're able to think around at least half a corner, you should know how dangerous this is the young homosexuals who struggle with what they very much didn't decide. It re-enforces the idea that there is something initially "disconnected from mainstream" about homosexuality, it pretty much cements the idea that homosexuality is "un-natural" (whatever that means) by claiming that sexuality is almost unrelated to biology.
Some don't seem to realize it, but in "straight-camps" aso. they're pretty much using your concepts to drive people sick and insane. This is in parts a concept that might lead others to being harmed, i think at lot of people who essentially jumped onto that bandwagon and do care should know this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.15.23.59 (talk) 12:10, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is not the place for airing personal views and misogyny. -- 184.189.217.91 (talk) 22:55, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
