Summary

I tried to edit it to make it shorter but I cut too much I left it alone, but I read it and a bunch of useless info is in it

-Chemicalinxs

To me the "useless info" which you are trying to say is useful espcially those who hasen't played the game yet. Yet I already played it. Dar book (talk) 08:03, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Spoiler Warning

Could we include a spoiler warning inder the gameplay section, there is a significant amount of information there which must qualify it to have a spoler warning. Agreed?--Tomcowie 17:19, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Crowstar 11:36, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

388

388? Which gen-4 creatures does that include? I'm thinkin' Munchlax and..? -- WikidSmaht (talk) 16:15, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Oooh, I hope Munchlax-kun is in it!

Only 386 can be recruited to your team. Munchlax is in the game, but you don't get it. Also, you can receive statues of Lucario, Mime Jr., and Weavle. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 01:03, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon Anime: Genuine Article?

Can anyone please tell me if th anime special is an actual Japanese production, or if it's one of those 4Kids commissioned works created just for American viewers a la Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie, or the second season of Ultimate Muscle?

It's like the Mastermind special. Premieried in English and then in Japanese...don't know where it's originally from though..I'm sadly inclined to say 4kids. 66.57.20.114 19:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Like The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, this is produced by the same Japanese company, but distributed English-first (so like Mirage, it could be said that it is an English original and subsequently redubbed into Japanese). The voice cast uses the new voice cast, so it's pretty divorced from 4Kids Entertainment. kelvSYC 20:41, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Evolution

Could someone put some more information in about evolution? Specifically, what do the items you give the voice do? Can they affect your Pokemon's stats as well as evolutionary path? Thanks! 199.44.94.100 03:19, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

No, items used in evolution don't affect stats -- basically, they all act like elemental stones from the main series. It's just that there's a wider range of items to simulate conditions that don't exist in this game. For instance, since you can't trade Pokemon in PMD, you use a Link Cable item to evolve Pokemon that would need to be traded; since there's no day and night, you use a Sun Ribbon or Lunar Ribbon to get Espeon and Umbreon. If your Pokemon only needs a certain level to evolve, offering items won't do anything.

Blue version

How does it use the touch-screen? There's only a mention that you can use buttons and/or stylus, and everywhere else is noted that the two versions are almost identical... is the use of touch-screen limited to controls? At least some mini-games or something like this could be nice, otherwise it seems not so much as discrimination of GBA owners, as wasting DS's potential. 87.204.127.66 09:20, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Both versions are very similar. The touch screen control can mainly also be done with the buttons. Though it is extremely useful when rescuing Pokémon who move everytime you turn to face them... --Sonic Mew 18:35, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Of course you could just press "Y" to face them. The touch screen in this game isn't really used much. In fact, you could turn it off all together and not even use it. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 18:52, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh well. Almost like playing the GBA version on DS=P. It sure could be done better. *stops complaining* Maybe I'll still consider it, it's both Pokemon and Dungeon. Thanks. -former 87.204.127.66, EclipseDragon 15:51, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
The main advantage of the DS version is that you get the Y button. Otherwise they aren't much different. The real selling point for Blue is that it has Gyrados for me. --tjstrf 00:33, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, there's also the fact that you can select the menus individually and put the map on the top screen. --tjstrf 00:33, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Recruiting Kecleon outside of shoplifting

The article states that stealing from a Kecleon shop in a dungeon is the only way to recruit one on your team, however, I have heard that reaching Jirachi at the end of the Wish Cave with a Wish Stone(or something to that effect) would let you pick one of several wishes, one of which would result in a Pokemon joining your team. I have heard atleast one person state they got a Kecleon this way, rather then stealing from the shop and defeating the hordes of them.--69.175.56.3 08:22, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Meh. I'd rather not go through Wish Cave TWICE. Once is more than enough. -- ~PinkDeoxys~ 01:55, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I went through Wish Cave like 12 times. I think there's a code for action replay that prevents your level from reseting when you enter the dungeon, but I haven't confirmed it.65.223.58.226 (talk) 01:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Where can you get a Wish Stone? Dar book (talk) 07:38, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

"Alakazam's Team" vs "Team A.C.T."

The two are interchangable. Team A.C.T. is the name given to Alakazam's team in the anime special based on the game, and that seems to be dotted around in this article. But the name A.C.T. isn't said in the game, so the connection is implicit based on the show. I went ahead and added the line about the A.C.T. in the introduction to Alakazam's team in the introduction, but how should we do this? Should it be Alakazam's Team or Team A.C.T.? 149.161.20.78 16:46, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

"A.C.T." stands for Alakazam-Charizard-Tyranitar. I suppose that mentoning that would justify its usage some more. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:23, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Of course it is mentioned that the name is derived from the anime. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:27, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

About the megachange

The megachange is good, but I think a little too much was deleted with all the shops getting removed. Instead of a list of shops, can their functions be condensed into a large paragraph? Toastypk 20:50, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Possibly. I'll see what I can do. Raven23 07:05, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Plot Summary

Alright-y. There's been a "bad plot" tag on the plot summary for a while now. I've done some cleaning up of the summary, but I think it could still use work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the plot summary? Raven23 07:07, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

That's good so far. I forgot to take out that spammy chunk. But the length the plot is right now is mostly perfect IMO. Toastypk 08:22, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
So, do you have a suggestion on where we could move the paragraph about the Mankey and the completion of the rescue team base? It really doesn't belong in a section about battling Groudon, but completing the base is required for the plot to progress, so it should probably be included. In the section before, or its own section? What do you think? Raven23 04:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Probably before the ACT rescuing chapter. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Toastypk (talkcontribs) 19:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC).

Just a note

I decided to add more game mechanic sections and I merged them into a whole section called "Gameplay and Mechanics". Further refining of the big section can be done if needed, but I don't wish it to look messy with a lot of subsections.

Also can we please get a damned boxart? This whole image debacle on wikipedia is so confusing and stupid. Toastypk 22:33, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I really don't mind on the "Gameplay and Mechanics" thing. As for the boxart issue, I'm afraid I'm not really sure what you mean. Could you perhaps be a little clearer? Raven23 04:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
We've had the Pokemon Dungeon boxart on the table on the right there. Then someone suddenly removed it because of evil copyright laws or something. So we need to get a boxart picture back on. Toastypk 06:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Oh, that. Well, if it's a copyright law, I don't really see much we can do. But games like Ruby and Sapphire have boxart pictures in their articles, so if it's okay for those articles, it's okay for us, right? Raven23 03:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
In general, we cannot use copyrighted images on Wikipedia. In limited cases, however, we may. Please read Wikipedia:Fair use. The boxart of the game should have had a detailed fair use rationale to be kept on Wikipedia, as many boxart pictures do. --Kusunose 07:19, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Oh, okay...Well, is there any place we can get one without breaking any copyright laws? Raven23 14:26, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

"Influences on other games" section

I personally find it hard to believe that Pokemon MD, a game released in 2005, could influence the Final Fantasy series which made its debut in 1987. Also, the information in this section is unsourced. I think the whole section should be removed. Bhamv 15:19, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Boxarts

What happened to the bigger ones? I'm pretty sure there have been bigger on the article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

They were removed because ZOMG LAWSUIT. If I knew where the images were I'd probably put them back on. Toastypk 02:11, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Need the boxarts yet again. -_-

Someone find good clear large shots and upload please.

Plot Summary

Moving past the boxarts for a moment...I've trimmed up the plot summary a bit. If anyone sees anything else that could be removed, please feel free. I really want to get rid of that bad plot tag. Raven23 02:35, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

The Continuing Story

Should we perhaps take that off? It doesn't really affect the main plot (what you do before beating the game) and the main plot is the point of the article. If anyone really feels that it needs to be kept, we could maybe make it a lot shorter. What say you? Raven23 06:01, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

If anything, the Gengar segment has to be kept. That's very plot-centric and ties up loose ends, that has to be kept.
Maybe we could just mention it. Seriously, that whole section is a lot longer than it needs to be. Raven23 13:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree with keeping the gengar part, it actually makes a contribution to the plot, unlike the other after game levels. Crowstar 14:59, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Can't we just summarize the Mewtwo arc. It's kinda important, you know. Also, can't we just make a table of all changes from normal Pkmn games from this game. Your reply is very appreciated. Thank you. Dar book (talk) 07:15, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Move to...

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team. Adheres to the conventions of dual Pokémon games. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:26, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree... anything I can do to help? ~Crowstar~ 16:57, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

All that can be done is create a discussion or move the article now - I think I will move the article, and if anyone opposes, we can have this discussion. - A Link to the Past (talk) 19:54, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Review section is pathetic

One sentence hardly constitutes a review section. It's not even sourced. Could it be expanded on? -Sukecchi 13:33, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Somebody added an additionally worthless sentence that doesn't help the situation. Maybe it should be deleted?Reinoe (talk) 18:02, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

No, it needs a review section, it just needs worked on. -Sukecchi (talk) 18:04, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Mysterydungeon.jpg

Image:Mysterydungeon.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot summary (part 3)

I see that the plot summary has been tagged before, but it's still far more detailed than it needs to be, at 2300 words (vs the 900 recommend as a hard maximum for film plot summaries). See my rationale in the sequel's talk page. Vlcice (talk) 21:17, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

I still believe that it's a really good length. I've trimmed it down before, cut some of the extra stuff out, but it would leave a lot of important things out if I went too far. Once I finish the sequel's plot, I hope to contribute to its plotline as well to get a good length. Toastypk (talk) 20:26, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I tried cutting it down some, but to get it down to a better level, it probably needs a complete rewrite. I think 900 words would be too little as films are a lot shorter than games, maybe 1500 tops? FinalChase (talk) 19:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
