Why separate page?

[edit]

Why the 8th series of Pokémon anime need a separate page, When previous seven series doesn't have one ? Yuugone (talk) 10:15, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The previous series (from Indigo League to Ultimate Journeys) all have their own page. See Template:Pokémon for a list. DecafPotato (talk) 07:07, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, why should we wait to know the name of the season before making an article on it? Just look at things like GTA 6. DecafPotato (talk) 07:12, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DecafPotato: I agree that all 25 seasons have separate page but you made an article for series not for season and all article's name are English dubbed name that's why I said to wait. Yuugone (talk) 07:48, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Pokémon uses 'series' and 'season' interchangeably. Like, Ultimate Journeys is branded as "Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series" DecafPotato (talk) 19:33, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Yuugone – Forgot to ping you, so this is in case you didn't see my above message. DecafPotato (talk) 03:19, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DecafPotato: You'll have to move the page again (I moved the page from Upcoming Pokémon anime series to Pokémon (2023 TV series)) when English title for this season/series will be revealed. Yuugone (talk) 06:06, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but I think that should be uncontroversial and thus won't be a huge issue. DecafPotato (talk) 06:19, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DecafPotato: I wouldn't say they are used interchangably, as each series has a season (internationally speaking). The Japanese-based dub (in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese etc.) have season for the BW series and it seems the limited 11-episode series is a season of Journeys too. Riko or Liko?

[edit]

I don't understand but should we put her name as Riko or Liko? This is similar to Zoro from One Piece where his name was spelled as Zolo in the dub. HiGuys69420 (talk) 23:06, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's "Liko" both in Japanese and English version. Yuugone (talk) 16:34, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
huh thats odd cuz the first announcement said her name was riko but i guess it was a typo HiGuys69420 (talk) 16:40, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why should we not use English Translations?

[edit]

Why should we not use English translations for the characters? I mean, the human characters we can keep, but Sprigatito, Charizard, and the Rising Volt Tacklers have definite English names and we don't need to keep them in Japanese. This is the ENGLISH page, after all. 104.187.66.104 (talk) 19:01, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes this is English Wikipedia but no English dubbed name till the episodes are aired in English dub. Ajeeb Prani (talk) 03:40, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Separate Column for Storyboard

[edit]

I was wondering, is it not possible to have a separate column for the storyboarder rather than putting it in the director column? It'd look a lot cleaner. SpecificName (talk) 18:30, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

US Premiere date

[edit]

Ajeeb Prani The Herald Why are you adding this? Screening of first 10 minutes of episode on comic-con or Youtube as promo isn't premiere of episode. It only Sneak Peek. It must be a complete episode. Lado85 (talk) 09:38, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New series listing & Season 1

[edit]

Many sources have been regarding Horizons as a new, separate series from the previous 25 seasons (referred to as "Pokémon the Series").

This include as multiple press releases prior to the Horizons name being revealed as a "new animated series", a line of wording in this press release [1] that refers to "Ultimate Journeys" and "Horizons" as different products, and its BBC iPlayer listing using "Series 1"[2] for episodes, when other Pokémon series on the service use their proper season numberings (Sun and Moon is listed as Series 20, 21, 22).[3]

I do think this page should be detached from the previous "animated series" page and made as a new (2023) page, since TPCi at least does consider it a brand new show. AnotherUsefulEditor (talk) 13:34, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well Pokémon is divided into multiple series in both Japanese version and English version. In Japanese version Pokémon is divided into eight series (Pocket Monsters, Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation, Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl, Pocket Monsters Best Wishes!, Pocket Monsters XY, Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon, Pocket Monsters 2019 and Pocket Monsters 2023) and in English version Pokémon is divided into nine series (Pokémon the Series: The Beginning, Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver, Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon the Series: Black & White, Pokémon the Series: XY, Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, and Pokémon Horizons: The Series) so I don't think Horizons should be treated as a separate series from the previous 25 seasons. But I'll wait to see if the official Pokémon website lists Horizons as 26th season or not.
I know you'd said you'd wait, but I thought I would mention the iTunes listing for Pokémon Horizons: the Series also refers to it as Season 1 now. The cover art for the listing linked.AnotherUsefulEditor (talk) 10:00, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure enough, the US website separates Horzions from the previous "seasons" of the dub.
A quick search on Google also concludes that every credible news outlet (excluding lazy content farms) refers to Horizons as a new series. Only the websites that exclusively refer to the (incorrect) American numbering are calling this "season 26".
Then there's the simple fact that this is a reboot with no ties to the previous seven series. 209.29.168.79 (talk) 18:11, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

English release dates

[edit]

The website currently lists the release date for the first episode as "February 23, 2024". However, this is only true for the USA. In the UK, the first episode is available to watch right now on BBC iPlayer, with the episode to air on CBBC on December 4. Should there be two dates added: one for the UK and one for the USA? ISD (talk) 15:01, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There should be only one column for English air date and it should be based on first streaming in the United States on Netflix because the official website of Pokémon add new episodes when Netflix releases new episodes. Someonewhoisusinginternet (talk) 06:29, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK. It still seems odd however given the fact that English releases of the episodes are happening sooner, in England, home of English, but if that is how we are going, then that's that. ISD (talk) 15:58, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why should that matter? They are releasing in a perfectly official capacity? This isn't leaks, it's Pokemon Company approved releases of the episodes on a well-known (if regional) streaming service? The page says English release, not US release. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.236.140.52 (talk) 02:41, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
English release date must be changed to U.S. release date Lado85 (talk) 05:46, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@143.236.140.52 and @Lado85 I have added the UK release date. Someonewhoisusinginternet (talk) 07:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In some cases the US dates are not the first English release dates

[edit]

For example the series will release on the BBC iPlayer in English earlier than in the US. I think there should at least be a note saying these dates are strictly the US dates as it can be confusing for people who live in the UK, such as me. BasicEdit (talk) 16:02, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a note. Someonewhoisusinginternet (talk) 10:40, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! BasicEdit (talk) 21:52, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why it is a problem to change release date from english to U.S.? And there is no note for dates, only for episdoe numbers Lado85 (talk) 05:44, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
English release date must be changed to U.S. release date Lado85 (talk) 05:45, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

International release date and networks

[edit]

Can someone fix the International release date and networks please. Someone messed it up, and I don't know how to fix it. DanHops123 (talk) 21:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
