Maps much appreciated

[edit]

Many thanks go to User:Pi.1415926535 and User:Dogru144 for adding maps, which greatly improved the clarity of the article. Reify-tech (talk) 10:15, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disorientation

[edit]
Pleasant Street Portal in 1901 during the period of Main Line operation through the Tremont Street subway. An inbound Main Line (now Orange Line) test train is at the high platform at left, while an inbound trolley is on the right. This view faces south, away from the portal.

I added this historic photo to the article, along with its original caption. However, I'm having trouble correlating the photo with the track layout diagram. For starters, isn't the view in the photo facing north into the portal, rather than south, as the caption claims? --Reify-tech (talk) 20:49, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is the view facing south from the portal. The underpass in the background is not the portal mouth; it's the Main Line (Orange Line) tracks passing under Pleasant Street. Confusing for sure. Cheers! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 03:45, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
