In my opinion, the "Designation" section is interesting, but pretty irrelevant. I suggest that it be removed. Bobondijon (talk) 06:30, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed, as written the relevance of the Designation section wasn't clear. I did some research and learned that ‘attābī is the 1630s adjective from which tabby, as in "tabby weave" (another name for plain weave), is derived. I adjusted the article to make the connection clearer. Enby (talk) 21:58, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
- Those sources make no link between the cloth called "Tabby" in the 17th century and the modern use of "tabby weave" by craft revival hand weavers. This connection requires citation or the entire section should be removed from the entry. 69.50.63.16 (talk) 15:28, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
