Name

[edit]

Change the name of this article to "Pickle." No one on Earth says "pickled cucumber." This is a compromise that pleases no one. 2600:1700:4550:DC50:B4B2:5A3C:48AE:782C (talk) 04:33, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Change the first line from: "A pickled cucumber (commonly known as a pickle in the United States, Australia and Canada, and a gherkin in Britain, Ireland, South Africa, and New Zealand)"

"A pickled cucumber (commonly known as a pickle in the United States, and Canada, and a gherkin in Britain, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand)"

The country characterisation was made by someone not living in Australia. They are called gherkins here, not pickles. 210.50.67.231 (talk) 07:38, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. EnIRtpf09bchat with me 11:17, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

– As acknowledged in the lead sentence of this article, "pickle" is the WP:COMMONNAME in the United States, Australia and Canada, and is used in the UK as well, albeit not as much as in the aforementioned countries. "Pickled cucumber", on the other hand, is not a common name in any region. This page also represents the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of the word "pickle". The title "Pickle" satisfies all of the WP:CRITERIA to be a title for this article. 24.228.128.119 (talk) 23:33, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To add to article

[edit]

To add to this article: mention of pickle chips (i.e., thinly sliced rounds of pickled cucumbers), which are commercially available in jars. Example: https://rolandfoods.com/product/45766-kosher-dill-pickle-chips 98.123.38.211 (talk) 22:54, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
