Phylotypic stage is part of the WikiProject Biology, an effort to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to biology on Wikipedia. Leave messages on the WikiProject talk page.BiologyWikipedia:WikiProject BiologyTemplate:WikiProject BiologyBiology articles
I would like to move the section "Embryological phylotype concept" and the sub-section "The Funnel and Hourglass models" to a new, more detailed page called "Phylotypic Stage." This page will now focus on the taxonomy phylotype concept, which could be edited further for clarity. Blweigel (talk) 23:18, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to work on this page over the next few weeks as part of an Evolution and Development course. I will update the "The Funnel and Hourglass models" section to reflect new literature (see Levin et al. 2016 - The mid-developmental transition and the evolution of animal body plans), and I will try to link the concept of the developmental phylotypic period with the mid-blastula transition page (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Midblastula).

It would probably be a good idea to separate this into two separate pages, to represent the two different concepts. Both are about equally commonly used, so a disambiguation page would probably be better than giving one definition or other the priority. polypompholyx (talk) 13:56, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
