Attempted to create the page from a neutral viewpoint. The whisky has been in the press more and more lately (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/swine-flu/5967613/Drink-whisky-to-avoid-swine-flu-Russian-fans-told.html), having become top seller at Yates's and been 'prescribed' to Russian football fans. Any thoughts welcome. I have linked to the Penderyn website, as I feel that it contributes to the article. Please let me know how you think the article could be improved.Luke.ab09 (talk) 15:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Promo material and peacock words

[edit]

I removed the part about "award winning" because these sorts of awards are not notable. You would have a hard time finding a whisky that's not "award winning." To be notable, news of the award would have to appear in a reliable secondary source, that is, one that is not connected to either the awarder or the awardee.

And while we're at it, I'm very uncomfortable with the phrase "premium strength." Yes, it's a bit higher than normal, but "premium" implies it's somehow better than regular strength. Rees11 (talk) 17:46, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.iwsc.net/spirit/view/25661/penderyn-single-malt-welsh-whisky - Is this useable? Thanks for your help so far, Luke.ab09 (talk) 07:55, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding the article

[edit]

Hi Luke.ab09. You asked on my talk page about the stub tag, and what content I thought should be added. Three sentences is too short for any Wikipedia article. I would add:

  • A little history and information about the distillery. When was distillery founded, when did production start, does it exclusively produce whisky?
  • How many stills? Any variants of the whisky? Annual production? What sort of price? Which countries does it get marketed in? Is there anything unusual about the packaging? Anthing notable about the marketing? - e.g. [1] says that in the 2007 US launch one of the target markets was people of Welsh origin.
  • What notable awards has it won? [2] lists a 2005 IWSC silver medal, so personally I would say that the 2009 medal is notable on the strength of that. However I would not describe the whisky as "award winning" in its opening section, since as Rees11 observes, this applies to almost every whisky.
  • An Infobox

Have a look at other whisky articles - for example the McClelland's Single Malt, Powers (whiskey) and Crown Royal articles. Jll (talk) 10:08, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's about thirty quid a bottle in my local Sainsbury's. It's nice, but it's not that nice. Mr Larrington (talk) 15:21, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Penderyn (whisky)Penderyn – The whisky is the apparent primary topic, receiving 856 page views, more than twice that of the only ambiguous article, Penderyn, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at 400. It seems the whisky is far more common in sources published since 2004 (when it debuted), judging by the Google News archives.[3] The village can be easily found via a hatnote. Founding date

[edit]

The article states "The company was launched in 2000" but I visited and was told they were founded in 1999. But they appear to have been incorporated in 1998: http://www.duport.co.uk/credit-reports/reports.php?id=03620949 Eli-T (talk) 09:52, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
