Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on November 4, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the idea behind "Pavor Nocturnus", a second season episode of the Canadian television series Sanctuary came from the 2007 film I Am Legend?

"Pavor Nocturnus" meaning

[edit]

I recently added a sentence translating the title of this episode. I see this addition as relevant and verifiable information. My addition was removed and marked as "original research", which I object to. I linked to the Wikipedia article for night terror, which is what "pavor nocturnus" redirects to. The page for "night terror" itself mentions this Sanctuary episode in the italicized header. I think this addition does not qualify as original research because the phrase has a translation, one that Wikipedia recognizes. I could achieve the same result by looking in a Latin-English dictionary, or a medical dictionary; instead of citing that as a source, I directed the reader to the relevant Wikipedia page.

Several other Internet sources, which I view with varying degrees of authority, reached the same conclusion I did. These include:

My addition, in full: "The episode's title comes from the Latin phrase pavor nocturnus, which translates to night terror." - Joliefille (talk) 05:44, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as how this has waited almost three months, I'll give this article a review. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:32, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found with the article:

  • I'm a bit confused why Helen Magnus is mention by last name, but Will Zimmerman is mentioned by his first; names should be consistent, preferably last, in articles.
  • I called them Magnus and Will because that is how they refer to each other; most characters in the series refer to Helen Magnus as Magnus, while most characters refer to Will Zimmerman as Will. However, in this case I have changed all Wills to Zimmerman. -- Matthew RD 18:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Since Syfy allowed the season to take the characters "out for a big spin," introduce a "cool story" and then fuse the characters into it." fragment as is; since could be removed to fix
  • "In the end it took Kindler and Thorpe seven days to write the episode; a relatively " should be comma instead of semicolon
  • "Kindler did not want to include those scenes in again" huh? confusing as worded; also, do you mean include them in future airings/the dvd/the episode itself?
  • "Also because of it, and the inclusion" 'Because of this' would make the sentence sound better.
  • "One of the sets include" included
  • "then later create" created
  • "placing Sanctuary the sixth most seen series" 'making' would be better word choice here

I'll put the article on hold and pass it when the issues are fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:01, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I have now sorted out all the issues you have posted. -- Matthew RD 18:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Everything looks good now, so I'll pass the article as a GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
