Another September GAN to take on! --K. Peake 07:55, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lead

[edit]
  • WP:OVERLINK of Taylor Swift under songwriters
  • The promotional single release is not written out anywhere in the body
  • Remove "that follows Swift's life and career over several years" part
  • "the song was written and" → "the song was both written and"
  • Only write the 2018 United States elections
  • All of the comp info needs to be written out in the appropriate area of the body
  •  Not done
  • ""Only the Young" discusses" → ""Only the Young" discusses subjects such as"
  • "It is built around an" → "The song is built around an" and this should start the para
  • "was met with critical acclaim upon release," → "received acclaim from music critics upon release," with the pipe
  • "Music critics have noted" → "Some critics have noted"
  • Start the last para with a sentence mentioning any notable award(s) for the song
  • "song on it." → "song on the chart." but I am confused about the order of the charts; shouldn't the secondary digital chart come after all of the others since they are primary ones?
  • "top 40 in Australia, Hungary and Ireland, and top 50" → "the top 40 in Australia, Hungary, and Ireland, as well as the top 50"
  • Pipe Biden/Harris to Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign

Background and composition

[edit]
  • The Variety quote is more suited for the comp area of this section since it is describing the song's meaning
  • "of Bredesen's opponent," → "of Bredesen's opponent"
  • Taylor Swift, "How Midterm Elections Inspired Taylor Swift's New Song, 'Only the Young'", → Taylor Swift speaking to (keeping Variety at the end)
  • "interview with Willman," → "interview with Chris Willman of Variety," with the pipe
  • "that the song is" → "that the song is both"
  • The audio sample text is mostly unsourced and pipe refrain to Chorus
  • "on the album" → "for the album"
  • "and that it is" → "Swift further said that the song is" starting a new sentence, also add how she said it is for Miss Americana
  • "on in a week" → "on during a week"
  • Begin the comp para with actual info about the song's composition, which you can easily add from looking through the sources and try to be broad in your coverage, mentioning any instruments used and Variety ref should be used to write how Little's daughters contribute choir vocals. For content like this and it being a protest song, the info can be in more than one section since the context differs.

Critical reception

[edit]
  • "received acclaim from" → "was met with acclaim from"
  • "He described the song's theme as" → "He described the theme as"
  • "to older generations, that" → "to older generations of how"
  • "turn the page."" → "turn the page"." per MOS:QUOTE
  • Pipe Vulture to Vulture.com per MOS:LINK2SECT
  • "found the song" → "found the song to be"
  • MOS:LINKSTYLE says to be conservative when linking in quotes, therefore I think democracy is an overlink here
  • "to that of" → "to those of"
  • "The Man" and "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince" should not have their articles linked, as you've already done this in background
  • "that focuses "less on" → "focusing "less on"
  • Merge the third para with the second, as part of this one will be moved to a sub-section
  • Remove pipe on Democrat
  • "most political song" → "most political number" to avoid overusage of song

Accolades

[edit]
  • This should be a sub-section for reception, moving Empire and the Los Angeles Times as well as writing out the awards in prose instead

Commercial performance

[edit]
  • The Billboard Hot 100 should be mentioned first, as that is the main chart; use in the United States before it instead
  • "buoyed by 30,000 sales in" → "with 30,000 sales in"
  • "debuted at number one on the" → "also entered atop the"
  • "19th number-one song" → "nineteenth number-one song" per MOS:NUM
  •  Not done these are comparative figures
  • "The song also debuted at" → "The song debuted at"
  • "becoming her ninety-seventh" → "becoming her 97th"
  • The New Zealand chart position should come last since it's a secondary chart
  • "31 and 40 on" → "31, and 40 on the"
  • Add the Hungary position too; probably write Australia's ARIA Singles and Hungary's Single Top 40 in prose

Usage in media

[edit]
  • politics should be surrounded by [] per the source
  • Pipe Trump presidency to Presidency of Donald Trump
  • "was soundtracked in an advertisement" → "was used as the soundtrack to an advertisement"
  • "a part of Democratic campaigns in" → "part of a Democratic campaign for"
  • Remove plural for 2020 United States Presidential Election
  • Pipe Biden/Harris to Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign
  • "the first time Swift has lent" → "the first time Swift lent"
  • Remove comma before Kamala Harris
  • "from the past four years" → "from the previous four years"
  • "President Trump removing his face mask following a hospitalization" → "Trump removing his face mask after hospitalization"
  • Pipe Supreme Court justice to Supreme Court of the United States
  • Presidential nominee → presidential nominee
  • "time to run", and many" → "time to run." This is accompanied by many"
  • Remove pipe on #MeToo
  • "#SaveUSPS and #Vote." → "#SaveUSPS, and #Vote." with the pipe
  • "responded with thanks to" → "responded by thanking"
  • Last para looks good!

[edit]
  • Use {{spaced ndash}} so there is the right space between credits and personnel

  • Format → Format(s)
  • You need a source confirming both digital download and streaming

References

[edit]
  • Copyvio score looks too high at 49.2%; cut down quoting from multiple sources to resolve this
  • WP:OVERLINK of Variety on refs 3, 18 and 28, plus fix MOS:CAPS issues with 18
  • Remove or replace ref 4 since that is a gossip website
  • Pipe Vulture to Vulture.com on ref 5 per MOS:LINK2SECT
  • Fix MOS:CAPS issues with ref 6
  • Fix MOS:QWQ issues with refs 7, 11, 14 and 25
  • Pipe Empire to Empire (film magazine) on ref 15
  • Wikilink Los Angeles Times on ref 16 and use the consistent date formatting
  • WP:OVERLINK of Rolling Stone on refs 27 and 42
  • Cite JTBC as publisher instead on ref 29

  • Ref 37 is a duplicate of ref 20

Final comments and verdict

[edit]
  • I apologize. I've been busy lately. I'll perform your suggested edits now. I submitted this article for GA back in September, and I have since become busier than usual. Ronherry (talk)
  • Ronherry Sorry I ironically forgot to get back on this initially, but after looking now I can see you've done up to the media section and I've marked what suggestions of the areas worked on have not been implemented. --K. Peake 09:55, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
