contradiction; implication

[edit]
The North Polar Basin, or Borealis basin, is a large basin in the northern hemisphere of Mars that covers 40% of the planet.

Martian dichotomy says the lowlands cover one-third of Mars. Does the polar basin include all of the lowlands (and then some)? Other theories see two or three basins in the north.

Chryse Planitia, the landing site of the Viking 1 lander, is a bay which empties into this basin.

There must be way to put this that does not imply flowing water. I'll change empties to opens. —Tamfang (talk) 16:12, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
