Merge
[edit]I am in favor of the merge of all three museum articles to this one. Together they will make a fine article. CosmicPenguin (Talk) 02:43, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- I recommend keeping them separate, since they are all in separate locations and feature different exhibits. Jllm06 (talk) 16:19, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Merger proposal

- Closing, with no merge, given the uncontested objections with no support and stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 18:09, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
I propose to merge the content at Fishing Bridge Museum, Madison Museum, Norris Geyser Basin Museum, Old Faithful Museum of Thermal Activity, and the broader article Norris, Madison, and Fishing Bridge Museums into a combined article at Museums of Yellowstone National Park. I don't see why we need to have stub/start articles for each individual museum and a broader article which discusses 3 (but not all 4) of the museums with an awkward three-item title. It would be best to integrate all of the content across these articles into a single comprehensive article, with sections for each museum, and appropriate redirects from all the names. pinging CosmicPenguin and Jllm06 who discussed this topic long ago (above). Mdewman6 (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- I understand your reasoning, and don't entirely disagree with it, but given their diversity in design, separate NRHP designations and physical distance from each other, over two counties, I'm not convinced that a single article would not be unwieldy. The genesis of the museums and articles involves the individual designations on the NRHP of the three extant museums (the OF museum was destroyed before the NRHP existed), and then their collective designation as an NHL district. This happens a lot with NPS sites - the Grand Canyon has some of the same sorts of overlaps. I'm not keen on having what amounts to a single title with three (or four, or five) articles in it. Ten years or so ago, the present arrangement seemed to best serve readers, and the articles are capable of expansion. These are not the sole museums in Yellowstone - there is the Museum of the National Park Ranger, which ought to have an article too, but isn't (I think) in a National Register district, and the visitor centers contain museums as part of their functions. - There is probably sufficient material available (between the National Register listings and other Park Service materials) to make all of the museum articles longer than they currently are. Would this not serve Wikipedia better than merging the articles? Magic♪piano 16:12, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
