Resurrection of this article

[edit]

I merged and restored all old revisions of Noah Lindsey Cyrus, Noah lindsey cyrus, Noah cyrus and Noah Cyrus to Noah Cyrus. I also removed the redirect protect that prevented re-creation of this article. This was triggered by a request at Miley Cyrus. I judge that this article has sufficient independent assertion of notability to be a stub and that notability is not based on having notable family members. If others disagree, take it to WP:AFD for a proper deletion debate.

The article, in the form I restored it to, was originally deleted January 5, 2008 by desysopped Can't sleep, clown will eat me as "CSD A7 (Bio): Biographical article that does not assert significance". The article in that form was created July 16, 2007. One speedy request was declined August 20, 2007. I judge that the deletion Jan 5, 2008 was capricious and in the pattern of admin tool abuse that lead to the desysopping of the admin who deleted the article. --NrDg 17:04, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great. Can you unprotect Noah Lindsey Cyrus so it may become a redirect? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 20:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Added redirect to this article as well. --NrDg 20:28, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well she was pretty much just an extra with famous family members before, but now that she's been cast as the main character of a Miyazaki film... that's pretty notable now. 76.102.161.25 (talk) 12:21, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

I know somewhere out there of all the photos of her and her big sister, Miley, there has to be at least one out there that could be put in the info box for her bio, just so people who have no idea who she is are like, how am I supposed to know who this is without a bio pic? or w/e. I think this should be discussed and voted on for a consensus vote first though about whether or not to include a picture.98.209.48.133 (talk) 10:12, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that the vast majority of Internet celeb photos are copyrighted. It's complicated, but basically Wikipedia cannot use -- or even link to -- pages with images that are copyright violation. Many the easiest way to get a photo online is to take it yourself, then add it to Wiki, saying something like "I took this photo and give it into the public domain without condition." Article deletion

[edit]

Could we have a discussion about how Noah is notable?

I agree that with marketing forces, and a certain amount of talent, it is likely that Noah will eventually become notable. It's not clear she is now. Piano non troppo (talk) 13:48, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She's had some small TV roles and a couple of film roles. She also has her own YouTube show. I think she has some notability now, but I don't know if this article should be deleted now only to be brought back again a little later? It looks like the article has already been removed/restored before. Stephe1987 (talk) 08:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Im not proposing a call for deletion but the article never should of been created as she isn't notible. A 10 year old having a wikipedia article seems a bit creepy to me. Miley has already stated her frustration with the spotlight and she's asked for it all.

The 10 year old hasn't and although the family may try to do with her what they did with Miley there really isn't any need for an article. If there is a possibility for fame or movies in the future that's what imdb is for.Woods01 (talk) 23:20, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Our guideline here is WP:ENT. There is also the guideline on general notability. If you think this article fails either, please feel free to send it to WP:AFD, since it seems that a PROD would fail. Rodhullandemu 23:33, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Siblings

[edit]

Noah actually has five siblings, not four: Brandi Cyrus (maternal half-sister; b. 26 May 1988), Trace Cyrus (maternal half-brother; b. 24 February 1989), Christopher Cyrus (paternal half-brother; b. 8 April 1992), Miley Cyrus (sister; b. 23 November 1992), and Braison Cyrus (brother; b. 9 May 1994). People often forget Christopher because he lives with his mother in another state (Texas?), and an article said Miley has never publicly mentioned him. Even so, he is still their brother. Citing hollywood-hot-gossips.blogspot.com

[edit]

Hollywood-hot-gossips.blogspot.com does not appear to be a reliable source as defined by Wikipedia. I have therefore removed citations to it once again. If other editors believe it is a source suitable for citing, please discuss it here. --MegaSloth (talk) 12:01, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, if for no other reason that the only text content I noticed on four or five pages was quotes from other sources. Some of those sources would not be considered reliable. For those that are, the way to go would be to quote them directly. Piano non troppo (talk) 14:12, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Songs

[edit]

in the article it says "She has sung a few songs with Frankie Jonas, the youngest sibling of The Jonas Brothers." in what? in POYNO?

Plus i think she was in one of her father music videos. --Gerty 02:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gdaly93 (talkcontribs)

Trying to add more info to infobox bio!!!

[edit]

Okay, I kept changing formats since I was trying to provide more info to Noah Cyrus's infobox. this is the info I have added/edited so far (* means that changes work & appear on the article):

1. |origin = Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.

2. |years active = 2003–present (actress)
2009-present (singer)*

3. |Genre = Pop

4. |instrument = Vocals

5. |label = Walt Disney

6. |associated_acts = Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Frankie Jonas

7. |website = Official site*

The changes without a * don't work. Can anybody PLEASE HELP??????!!!!!! 23:57, 07 July 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.101.227.22 (talk)

Most of those are not defined for template:Infobox person so won't show up at all. See instructions at that link for attributes allowed. Pretty much a stretch to say she is a singer by occupation with only one film related single released that didn't chart. Doubt that she is signed to a label for one single so would like to see a reference to that. Official site is also a bit dubious but OceanUp does support it. I added her Twitter as Miley Cyrus who has a verified account is following it and would know it is the right one. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:43, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some of my edits that you see on my previous comment above yours, I got some of those lists from the Billy Ray Cyrus article infobox, then edited the infobox content to fit Noah Cyrus's occupations (see previous comment). I don't understand how some of the stuff i dod works for other people's articles. and further more, I assumed that Noah Cyrus was or was geting signed to a record label (That label was Walt Disney Records) because if you click on this link Ponyo Theme Song (which was a duet that Noah had done with Frankie Jonas), you will see that the song was published and released under an ACTUAL RECORD LABEL (Which was called Walt Disney Records). That's all I have to say.50.101.221.56 (talk) 00:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See the difference between template:Infobox musical artist used in the Billy Ray article and template:Infobox person used in this article for the difference. The infoboxes have different attributes. Releasing one song tied to a film does not mean she is signed to the label for a song and album production contract. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:33, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Label for Good Cry?

[edit]

The infobox mentions three labels. Which label is releasing her EP? —C.Fred (talk) 21:55, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Noah Cyrus Controversy

[edit]

Why is there nothing on Noah Cyrus calling Candace Owens a "nappy ass heauxzs" which is undoubtedly racist. Cyrus issued an apology on Instagram, but has since deleted it after receiving backlash.

==Controversies==

===Use of Racial Slur=== On December 2020, Cyrus joined in criticizing Candace Owens after the latter issued a controversial tweet towards Vogue magazine's photoshoot cover on their December 2020 issue featuring English actor and singer, Harry Styles. Owens' tweet attacked both Styles and the publication for featuring a man wearing effeminate clothing, which drew a sizable backlash. Cyrus responded to Owens via an Instagram Story post stating, "he wears this dress better than any of u nappy ass heauxz" [sic]. Owens responded to Cyrus' use of a racial slur, tweeting:

"Any one of woke liberals care to explain to me how @noahcyrus calling me a “nappy ass hoe” is not racist? I’m all ears. You guys love cancel culture. @MileyCyrus come get your sister!"

After Cyrus' post drew outrage, she issued an apology via Instagram, expressing remorse over using "a term without knowing the context and history." Both the original Story post and her apology post have since been deleted.

I'm sure someone can fix this mess filled with bad grammar and poor writing that I have created. Below are two credible sources and are approved by Wikipedia's standards. There is literally no excuse not to include this information.

One tweet and an apology doesn't rise to a level of a controversies section. However, it may be warranted to mention this in a sentence or two somewhere in the articles. —C.Fred (talk) 17:13, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit dispute

[edit]

@Fleets:, I just want to have a discussion with you on why you believe this controversy merits inclusion? Additionally, why you added your own opinion in calling Owens a "victim" and adding numerous duplicate sources that have similar content that consisted of tabloids. Honestly I don't think this warrants inclusion, seeing as a celebrity making a derisive social media post isn't that relevant to their overall career story, but I'd be interested in hearing you out. Also, I don't think it's appropriate to call my edit with an explained summary "vandalism". Gagaluv1 (talk) 22:12, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the sources, and to be frank, none of the wording here is calling her a racist. Removal of cited sources from numerous sources would be widely considered vandalism, and did you a favour by labelling it potential, and assuming good faith, I would say that you just had a chance to read the sources, or at least the headlines. Reporting of the facts, does not prejudice against her, merely that she said something to someone, later got told it was racist, apologised for that to the world, but not to the individual that she called a racist slur. To be fair I'm pretty sure the neutral tone here has swung too far towards removing this as a story.Fleets (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding. I still don't see what mentioning that she did not mention Owens in her apology adds to the article, as none of your added sources remark on that. You have still not offered any rationale as to why this controversy is even relevant. Also, the npr and reuters articles you sourced predate this controversy and have nothing to do with Cyrus.Gagaluv1 (talk) 22:28, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah if you don't apologise to the person who you did something to, that's not really a proper apology. As I said please read the cited sources. Reuters and NPR confirm that it is a racist slur. If you don't think using racist language is controversial then I think I will leave this conversation right here as I don't think I can talk to a human being with those vile thoughts!Fleets (talk) 22:32, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I think we can cool it with the personal attacks. I'm an anti-racist, I don't like what she said. But linking to two articles that have nothing to do with Cyrus or this specific controversy is just not relevant. Regardless of whether or not you think it was a "proper apology" none of the sources remark on her apologizing directly to Owens, so adding it into the article is original research.Gagaluv1 (talk) 22:35, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: The Metro source does touch on it, however according to this: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources Metro is not to be used as a source on wikipedia.
