Notable?
[edit]This "Ningbo Commercial Group" thing, is something real and mentioned in reliable sources or something someone in the Chinese Wikipedia invented? I mean, I would like to know if there are serious publications analising this or it's simply a made-up grouping without real basis. That would help to establish notability. --Urbanoc (talk) 03:33, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- Researching on this, the most similar thing I found is the International Ningbo Merchants Association (世界中华宁波总商会 or 世界中華寧波總商會). The description of the association on their website make clear that it's a very different grouping to the one described in this article and in its Chinese equivalent. Their have a foundation date (2008) and a clear corporative system, it isn't a random set of businesspeople born in Ningbo. In any case, this Ningbo merchants grouping doesn't seem especially relevant. --Urbanoc (talk) 04:18, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- The articles (especially the English version) seem to baseless extrapolate something that existed during the Imperial China era (similar to an European guild) and pretending is something that survived Chinese modernisation and still is a valid concept today. --Urbanoc (talk) 04:34, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
- It is definitely a thing, though has very little English-language literature on it. Would be a struggle to expand beyond what I've done without a lot of language struggles. Really hope someone picks up this and the ten commercial groups generally cause it seems like a fascinating bit of history. //Lollipoplollipoplollipop::talk 21:21, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
