"(they realise she is no normal human being when she does expects what they describe to her as a "cast-iron conker" to be made of cast iron.)" (sentence fragment) makes no sense to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by St3f (talkcontribs) 14:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it makes sense to me, although the "does" is redundant.
Could this be the most British sci-fi plot twist of all time? You decide. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 20:34, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First Book

[edit]

I wouldn't know if The Fast Green Car (1965) was his first book or not, bu the British Library gives his early monographs as Look at Cars (1959), Look at Newspapers (1962), The Young Man’s Guide to Advertising (1963), Cars (1963) and The Bouncers (1964). There is no guarentee these are correctly cataloged or even the same Fisk. MartinSFSA (talk) 09:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Monster Maker

[edit]

This book was made into a film (a TV movie I believe) and there are some basic details on IMDb. It has been a long since I've read or seen either, but I recall there were a number of changes, e.g. Chancey Barlough becomes Chancey Bellow and the Ultragorgon changes from just a head to an entire monster with working mechanical hands. Yes, there's an article, although it needs work: Monster Maker. —Paul A (talk) 17:21, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're not kidding - I actually looked at it without realising it was what I was looking for.. Shiroi Hane (talk) 22:26, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

Fisk died on 10 May 2016, as per his agent, but this has not been noted on the main page as the agent wasn't famous enough according to user "jkaharper". Just so we all know, he is dead. He will not be getting a more famous agent because he is deceased. https://twitter.com/LCecilLitAgency/status/729985447397609472 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.99.62.111 (talk) 18:02, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fame has nothing to do with it. Information added to WP must be sourced to a reliable source. Twitter is considered a self-published source, and is only useable as a source for information about the tweeter. See WP:RS for how we evaluate reliability of sources, and WP:SELFSOURCE for information about self-published sources. Also please refrain from back-handed compliments, as they are a form of personal attack, are not allowed on WP, and can get you blocked from editing.
In this particular case, we could use the tweet as a source to say "A person who said they are Fisks's agent said he died..." but since Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a newspaper there is no need for this. We will add information about his death when it has appeared in reliable sources. Kendall-K1 (talk) 18:42, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible to add the external link below to an profile of Nicholas Fisk I wrote at the end of 2023? It was written with the support of his former agent and literary executor. https://www.thehindsighthut.com/post/author-profile-nicholas-fisk

Thanks
