One or two players?

[edit]

Are this Nemanja Nikolić and Nemanja Nikolić (footballer born 1988) the same person? One article lists birth date as December 31 1987, and the other as January 1, 1988. These two sites (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/47522/nikolicnemanja/profil.html and http://www.hlsz.hu/index.php?WG_NODE=WebHlszJatekos&WG_OID=hPLf_89719b5) talk of two different players (one playing for Red Star, and the other one for Kaposvár), but the picture is the same. So, are these two the same person?--Vitriden (talk) 14:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HLSZ is a reliable source, while Transfermarkt often contains invalid information. I'll do some research, but I suspect the one born in 1987 is the only one. Jogurney (talk) 02:03, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nemanja Nikolić (footballer, born 1987)Nemanja Nikolics – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. Governor Sheng (talk) 14:00, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

According to WP:COMMONNAME: " Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the five criteria listed above."

SkySport, The Guardian, Aljazeera, all use Hungarian version of his name - Nikolics. Also, see Gergő Lovrencsics as an example.

Moreover, he's a Hungarian, not Serbian footballer, who represents Hungarian national team and made his football career in Hungary. Nikolics himself uses the Hungarian version of his surname. --Governor Sheng (talk) 14:00, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Four people with the identical name? DAB page Nemanja Nikolić already exists, and I've simplified the hatnotes on all four articles. Narky Blert (talk) 18:55, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
