Talk:Need for Speed Rivals
Game Title
[edit]I previously moved the page to 'Need for Speed Rivals', but it's been moved back, so I imagine this needs some discussion.
By all references, including official press releases, the game's official name is Need for Speed Rivals. There is no colon in the game name. This is unorthodox for the Need for Speed series, where previous games have frequently had a colon to separate the series' title from the game's subtitle. However, this is not the case for the game. The name is 'Need for Speed Rivals' and the article on the game should reflect that. I am not aware of any other game where the article title does not match the game's title. - Just moved it back myself, completely nonsensical to add things that aren't there. Seems there was a mixup with the talk pages... not sure how to fix.
- Which games use "subtitles" is essentially random, as is which games use "For" instead of "for" (the series site uses both at any given time); it's a real nightmare to figure out. Despatche (talk) 07:20, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, okay, this is dumb. The original move was made because "A colon is needed to separate the series name from the game name." What the hell does that even mean?! Look, you treat "Need for Speed Rivals" just like you would treat a Sonic game or a Mario game; it's not "Sonic: Lost World" or "Super Mario: Galaxy".
- Colons are added to separate subtitles from main titles; "Rivals", like "Lost World" and "Galaxy", are being used more like numbers. Have there been previous NfS games that use colons to denote subtitles? Yes, and they are irrelevant, because that wasn't done here.
- Just be happy that this is English and not Japanese, where everything we do may as well be wrong. No, really: romaji and the romaji we use is wrong and misleading, adding colons and whatever else to point out subtitles is wrong, using the English title because it's English above all else (hint: I don't care about what's "Japanese", I care about what's "original" and what's "primary") is wrong and stupid, etc etc. Despatche (talk) 05:51, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Reception need some editing
[edit]It's odd that the reception states that the game has received mostly positive reviews but yet the game has 62.5% and 40% on PC and Xbox 360. I think it needs more detail and change mostly positive to mixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.160.156 (talk) 19:22, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- Should also be mentioned the critics about the 30 FPS limit on the PC version.-Loxus (talk) 23:09, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Also, it doesn't support steering wheels on PC (apparently) --jae (talk) 21:31, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- If these have reliable sources, you can add them. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 06:14, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Cheats section
[edit]I've been away from the project for a while, and computer games is not exactly my speciality on Wikipedia, but I think we ought to hammer out on the talk age whether we have a section on cheats etc. I see a danger of everyone reverting everyone else and it getting quite messy. Dolive21 (talk) 12:16, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- The secret code belongs to the strategy, because it can take shortcuts to complete the game. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 06:13, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Content too "ad-like"?
[edit]I couldn't help but notice the use of {{advert}} in the article, and being a user who wants the best for all articles (not to mention one good at gnoming) I inspected the article -- specifically looking for information that may be perceived as advertisement or promotion of the game. I found... Nothing. I don't want to be responsible for removing the template, so I would appreciate another inspection of the article by a different user -- just to make sure. --JustAnIng (Talk){USER} 03:41, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- JustAnIng, there is actually a lot of poorly written material in the article. I am working on it myself. I wouldn't remove the tag until it is all fixed because it is pretty bad. —DangerousJXD (talk) 08:21, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- Noted. Thanks for clarifying. I will do what I can to help the article. Cheers! JustAnIng (Talk){USER} 15:07, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
Can you give specific examples? Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 09:40, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
On the definition of strategy
[edit]I think the introduction strategy has two characteristics:
1. Need to play carefully most of the content can be obtained;
2. Affect the result, such as the progress of customs clearance. These are not to be written in it. Because the encyclopedia writing policy stipulates that there is no need to write strategies. So plot and chapter overview are not really, because even if you don't know anything about it, you can still play it straight to the end of the game. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 06:11, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- These two points must be met at the same time before it can be regarded as strategies. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 06:49, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- Chapter Overview is written because it can be combined with the plot to further analyze the changes of the character's behavior, whether there is or not, does not affect the game through. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 06:50, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
I made a mistake."Gameplay" is a more authentic expression. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 07:14, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
What is the mean of " Development" of the sub-title?
[edit]This chapter is about studio changes and game development. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 16:45, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
What it mainly describes is not this game, but more like the official development history. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 16:50, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
About informal names
[edit]Someone previously thought that the name did not exist and deleted it. This informal name does exist in Chinese players. Is it necessary to keep after adding redirects? I hope everyone will make a statement or make other changes. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 09:43, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
The reason why this name is popular among Chinese players is that a considerable number of people do not speak English, this informal name is more convenient. Hzt0208042508415531 tw (talk) 09:44, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
