Pictures

[edit]

Anyone have any recent pictures of the site?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:05, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a few. I'll try to get some more. Juxtapos99 (talk) 01:18, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the older image from the page [1] because the parcel is now much more complete than that picture shows. Juxtapos99 (talk) 01:24, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I reduced the size of the pictures to 250px, 450 and 650 seems a bit too large for the page. APK yada yada 01:40, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
adding more pictures. please clean up as appropriate. Juxtapos99 (talk) 17:44, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seven of the pix are not visible. Can you check to make sure you copied the correct image title? APK yada yada 17:47, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
still adding pics. just doing it batch style. I realize this is a lot of pictures, but if deleting any of these, please give rationale. Juxtapos99 (talk) 17:52, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adding pics -- I tried to add pictures related to the sections listed, National Harbor in general, hotels, restaurants/eateries, retail, other and recreation. I realize that it's a mess right now, but I will slowly make changes so we don't edit over each other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Juxtapos99 (talkcontribs) 17:58, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added in 2019: The image in the opening paragraph doesn't at all look like a photo. Does anyone have a photo? If not, I can add one. Dmarquard (talk) 01:59, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please identify "image in the opening paragraph" . Benjamin Trovato (talk) 00:31, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

restaurants / retail not yet opened

[edit]

Shouldn't it be noted that most of the restaurants and retail stores listed in the article are not yet opened? I read in a Wash. Post article that 2 unnamed major restaurants have already pulled out and decided not to open. Can someone with knowledge clean this section up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.88.179.168 (talk) 08:04, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

makes sense. Timothy Dean's Bistro won't open for 3 more months, while Potbelly is already open. Maybe I'll put whether it's open or date expected to be open in parenthesis. Juxtapos99 (talk) 17:47, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of restaurants, hotels, retail, etc.

[edit]

Do we need this list? While the National Harbor site was effectively developed by a single private entity, it is for all intents and purposes its own city much like any other. We don't provide such comprehensive lists of merchants in other cities, so why do so here? I'd suggest only listing those that are independently notable. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 21:27, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Now this page looks a bit ridiculous with all pictures and no text. True, the list served as filler because there wasn't much else to note about the Harbor. But the Tysons Corner Center article includes a listing of anchor stores which seems fine. Perhaps, instead of a comprehensive list here, a summary of stores in one short paragraph will suffice? It would make sense to mention there are eateries, hotels, shopping and a condos, and then mention the recreational activities. Juxtapos99 (talk) 18:38, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Content

[edit]

The page looks better with fewer images, but what kind of sections should this page have? Because it's mixed use there should be a more detailed summary of what's here (types of offices, residential, hotels) and what you can do here besides shopping (i.e. recreational). I edited but now the transportation section dominates which doesn't seem appropriate. Also there are a few history bites from the newspapers or gazette that might be appropriate to add. So the sections could be History, Amentities, Entertainment and Recreation, and Transportation. Sound reasonable? Juxtapos99 (talk) 19:21, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. A history section is certainly needed. However, I think "amenities" is just an encyclopedic way to say "entertainment and recreation". That section can certainly describe the types of entertainment but really shouldn't be a directory listing! There should probably be a section on "facilities", though, that describes the actual site and the buildings themselves (number of acres, square footage, architects, construction phases, etc.) I realize that the Transportation section seems out of balance, but that can be corrected by simply fleshing out other areas. Additionally, some of that information can probably be used in the history section. Best, epicAdam(talk) 01:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

population

[edit]

Someone appears to be confusing the zip-code boundaries with this topic (the zip-code is one of the Oxon Hill codes, and covers an area about 15 times the size of National Harbor) TEDickey (talk) 18:45, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Zip codes are not an adequate way to determine population. Best, epicAdam(talk) 19:45, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here for example is some comment on the actual population. TEDickey (talk) 19:54, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
