What is "controversial" about Thao Suranaree??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.144.160.244 (talkcontribs)

Lady Mo and Anu

[edit]

I just linked Anu's rebellion to Laotian Rebellion, a new article as yet lacking sources, and saying Thailand's Department of Fine Arts (which is also responsible for archaeology) doubts the Lady Mo story. Also linked Naraimaharaj Palace to king's name, and wonder who the French designer is, and he had to to with Lopburi and Korat long before Anu's rebellion. A somewhat garbled account of the monument's origin is here. --Pawyilee (talk) 15:39, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article title

[edit]

What should the title of the article be? It was at Nakhon Ratchasima until an editor moved it to Korat (city). That is not an appropriate title - see WP:PLACE - and I have moved it to Korat, Thailand, but I do not know whether the article should be at its original title, or "Korat City" (as in the infobox), or what. The text refers to the place as both "Nakohn Ratchasima" and "Korat". The hatnote at Korat might need updating. PamD 22:03, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Becuase the province cpital also has the same name in Thailand as its province, we have two articles, one about the city e.g. Udon Thani, and one about the province, e.g. Udon Thani province. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:42, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think the move was improper and suggest that the article be renamed back to Nakhon Ratchasima, since it is the proper, official, and common name. If no one objects I'll request the redirect page be speedy deleted in order to do so. (Note: Even if the colloquial name is to be used, it should be spelled Khorat, not Korat.) --Paul_012 (talk) 15:55, 22 May 2013 (UTC) On second thought, it'd probably be better to file a move request. --Paul_012 (talk) 16:58, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Korat, ThailandNakhon Ratchasima – Reverting undiscussed move. Nakhon Ratchasima is the city's official and widely recognised name. Its colloquial name, Khorat (โคราช), is also common, but I don't believe it is so overwhelmingly more common that it should be preferred to the official name. Not having a (city) disambiguator is in line with most other articles on Thai provincial capitals.

Also, the name โคราช may be spelled Khorat according to the official Royal Thai General System of Transcription, or Korat, which is non-standard but may or may not be more common. The Google test is unhelpful here since results are polluted by the cat. Paul_012 (talk) 16:58, 22 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:08, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is a freestanding Wikipedia entry on the Korat cat. Material here should be incorporated into that article and a link should be provided here. I leave it to the author of that section and/or the author of the cat article to undertake the remedy. KC 07:19, 11 December 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boydstra (talkcontribs)
