Christmas Eve Games

[edit]

Is it really necessary to have all Christmas Eve games listed, especially since the NFL has a full schedule of games when it falls on a Sunday (or Saturday)? United States Frank Anchor Talk to me 14:56, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for early starts on Christmas Eve

[edit]

Wasn't there a Monday night game one year (I don't think it was the "Ghost to the Post" one) on Christmas Eve that went into overtime and didn't end until something like 1 AM Eastern time, that prompted the league to no longer schedule night games on Christmas Eve? The "early start" policy hasn't always been in place. That Don Guy (talk) 20:58, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is an obvious typo here. TPalkovitz (talk) 04:40, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 12 May 2023

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved - There is effectively no !vote here other than that cast by the nominator, and so for that reason I'm going to carry this one out as if it were an unopposed move. The nomination does cite a valid move rationale (consistency with other articles) and there is no obvious policy reason not to conduct the move. The issue of the length of the title is also dealt with in the proposed move. Hoopstercat's comment is essentially neutral since it both opposes and agrees with the move. There have been numerous relists of this, I'm not going to just kick this can further down the road. However, if anyone disagrees with this move please come find me at my talk page. NFL Christmas gamesNFL on Christmas Day – The title of this page should be consistent with that of NFL on Thanksgiving Day since both describe the league's history of playing on the respective holidays. As an alternative, the Thanksgiving page could be moved to "NFL Thanksgiving games," though I personally believe this page should be moved since the article describes more than the games themselves (such as history of games on Christmas and how the day was avoided for quite some time) Frank Anchor 13:49, 12 May 2023 (UTC)— Relisting. >>> Extorc.talk 18:30, 18 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE (please mention me on reply) 23:48, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I reject this a bit but I kind of agree on you since the thanksgiving articles should be changed and if something special happens on Christmas Eve (most special games on Christmas Eve happen on the NFL Network so they should be listed in the NFL Network exclusive game series artcle but Christmas Eve should be mentioned a bit in some way like Black Friday would in the thanksgiving article Hoopstercat (talk) 17:59, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Should the opening part of the article be changed or stayed?

[edit]

"Games held by the National Football League (NFL) on Christmas Day, December 25, are an occasional part of the league's schedule" it used to be a occasional part of the schedule but now it's an annual thing, and it will likely stay that way with going forward. Do you think this should change or be kept because the article explains that later on? MichaelFansz (talk) 13:29, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
