Fair use rationale for Image:Texas Vs The Nation Logo.JPG
[edit]Image:Texas Vs The Nation Logo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Corrected Information
[edit]The NFLPA Game and the Texas vs the Nation (TVN) game are two different collegiate all-star football games. The NFLPA Game does not share TVN's history. There is no connection between the two games.
The NFLPA was a title sponsor of TVN in 2011. In 2012, the NFLPA started their own game (independent of TVN). 2012 was the inaugural year for what is now known as the NFLPA Game based in California.
TVN did not have a game in 2012, but the sixth TVN game will be played February 2013 at Allen Stadium in Allen, TX.

- I just looked briefly at the sources and I am also concerned that this article is inaccurate in conflating the two series into one. As the previous poster noted, in 2013 there was a "Texas vs. the Nation Game" played in Allen. The official website for that game is here [1] and it claims the 2007-2010 games as part of its history. A 2012 article in the San Antonio Business Journal seems to make clear that the 2012 game in Carson was not part of the same series [2], and the ESPN article cited in the current text [3] seems to say the same thing. This will require more careful review; in the meantime I've tagged the article to indicate that there may be a dispute as to the facts. --Arxiloxos (talk) 19:00, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Sorting out this article
[edit]I’ve recently been working on behalf of the NFL Players Association to work at improving some articles here on Wikipedia. As noted above, and also at WP:NFL, this article has a serious issue—namely, it conflates at two different events: the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the Texas vs the Nation game, which previously had some NFLPA involvement, but which is now a distinct entity from the NFLPA-sponsored Collegiate Bowl.
To begin addressing these issues, I’ve drafted an article for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and posted it in my userspace. Because of my financial COI, I’d appreciate it if other editors could weigh in here, both in terms of how the draft looks, and also about the best way to manage setting up the article, redirecting from here. My suggestion: NFLPA Game should be a disambig page pointing to both NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and Texas vs. the Nation, which I haven't written an article for, but a reduced version of this article could serve for now. Thoughts? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 13:09, 18 June 2013 (UTC)
- In order to facilitate getting this article sorted out, I've now also prepared a stub version of the Texas vs The Nation game article and uploaded it to my userspace. Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 19:31, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Just looked at both of the pages in your userspace. I think the page on the Collegiate Bowl is just about good to go. The Texas vs. Nation article needs more information about the game's upcoming revival. — Dale Arnett (talk) 01:11, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Dale, thanks so much for taking a look! I've now updated the Texas vs The Nation draft to mention the 2013 revival, add an EL section + remove a category I should have left out. If things look set now, can you go ahead and roll out the changes? Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 18:15, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Needs results (including MVPs), as in the NFLPA Collegiate Game article. — Dale Arnett (talk) 18:55, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- I agree, the Texas vs. The Nation article needs game results, both the 2007-2011 results that can be inserted from this article, and for the 2013 game that "The Nation" won 24-13 in Allen, Texas on February 2, 2013. with Tulane's QB Ryan Griffin as MVP (Griffin later signed with the Saints as a UDFA backup for Drew Brees). (Sample sources: Dallas Morning News [4]; Times-Picayune [5]) --Arxiloxos (talk) 01:56, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks to you both for looking at this. I went ahead and put together as complete a table of results and MVPs as I could verify, starting with the table in the existing article and adding new sources. The biggest challenge is the 2011 game, which is really what seems to have caused all the confusion; it's probably best to consider it part of the TvTN series, and so it's included here. Once again, for convenience, here are the two proposed drafts:
What do you think now? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 13:48, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner... busy on other things. While the TvTN article is still stubby, I think it has all the information needed to go live. The reason why I haven't gone ahead and moved the content into mainspace is that I'm not confident about my skills in merging article histories. — Dale Arnett (talk) 16:59, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- That's OK. Did you see that I brought the issue to Jimbo's Talk page? He's previously suggested that he could help in cases like this, where representatives like myself have had trouble getting help, so I'm optimistic this will do it. Best, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 18:22, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
