Someone posted saying that Jenkins is being charged with the murder. Police just want to Question him...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.122.162 (talkcontribs)

Nope, now the police consider him to be a murder suspect. There's enough evidence to make the police believe that he could be the killer.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 21:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Tokyogirl79[reply]

Also, he eluded US and Canadian authorities...that says a lot there too.Stryteler (talk) 13:12, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes from Millionaire:

"'I've never really rolled with any girls that can keep up with me.'
"On the show, he was said to have had a net worth of $2.5 million and said things like, 'I'm so James Bond. I'm going to rock it.'
"According to KABC, Jenkins identified himself on the show's profile as being an investment banker who turns 'player girls into princesses.'"(link) ↜Just M E here , now 12:35, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Playboy Model?

seriously?99.153.29.112 (talk) 15:07, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I've noticed before (speaking anecdotally, I can't cite a study) that particularly good-looking people tend to remain quite gracious when involved in conversations where the aesthetics of others' appearances are being judged. But, then, I've seen exceptions to this too, so the IP who made that extremely negative assessment of Jasmine's attractiveness may him- or herself be even more outstandingly attractive than the average than Jasmine Fiore is. I guess that is possible. I just doubt it, myself, that's all. However, if you are the IP in quetion, you can e-mail me your pic to the address on my talkpage, and if I think you're more attractive than the average person than Fiore is, I promise I'll say so, despite the fact that I think your comment on the page of a bio of a person recently murdered reveals any one of/a combination of jealousy, misogyny, or just poor taste in admittedly jarringly effective humor. ↜Just M E here , now 15:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fox News and a simple google search says that she did Playboy. Fox also had a picture of her in a Bunny outfit. Emperor001 (talk) 20:37, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Slightly of topic: she has actually worked for a well-known porn website called Oliver Klozov (tongue-in-cheek for All-of-er clothes-off) under name "April Vaughn". Those pictures are way more explicit than Playboy: hardcore porn. Lot of celebrities have done Playboy, but not OliverKlozov. Shouldn't we add "pornographic model" to her occupation, and "April Vaughn" as her alias/stage name? See for yourself her sample page at OliverKlozov: http://www.oliversgalleries.com/data/aprilV_4.html?id=353794 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.16.36.82 (talk) 08:17, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete? rename? merge?

[edit]

AfD time?

[edit]

This article is in the form of a BLP, which is not appropriate. The person herself, in life, was not notable. Should we rename this article to focus on the single notable event (see WP:1E) or should we go for the AfD?--Aspstren (talk) 04:51, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It would be more appropriate to merge with Megan Wants a Millionaire than to delete since this person's murder led to the cancellation of that show.Bdell555 (talk) 06:21, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I predict this will be kept (as would result an AfD for Nicole Brown Simpson). ↜Just M E here , now 13:04, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move?

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

Jasmine Fiore → ? — See below. ↜Just M E here , now 13:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC) I feel this article should be renamed to take Ryan Jenkins into account. As you can see, a lookup of Jenkins' name redirects to the Fiore article, and thus this article would be better off under "Jasmine Fiore murder case" or "Jasmine Fiore and Ryan Jenkins". — Rickyrab | Talk 13:12, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support this eminently reasonable proposal, in some iteration. In my opinion, any article about an individual whose life became well-known mostly through an events such as their violent death or else their having been accused of a crime, and the like, should have their separate bios changed to articles about the event ("Murder of----" etc.) until extenstive biographical treatments of the individuals appear in the media or become published as books. ↜Just M E here , now 13:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Jasmine Fiore is a notable person, not just for being murdered but for her modeling and acting. Her killer, also, was a reality television show contestant. I am not for any merging of the articles, or of a page called Murder of Jasmine Fiore. --Tarheelz123 (Talk) 18:53, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with that argument is that it's easy to point out that neither article existed prior to this event. If either was truly notable prior to the event, then they should have a bunch of supporting materiel added to their articles (materiel supported by WP:BLP policy as well, by the way).
    V = I * R (talk) 23:42, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support. I had originally put this page down as "Murder of Jasmine Fiore" because putting it only as Jasmine Fiore would make it predominantly about her when there are elements of both persons that should be incorporated into the article. But either way is just as good, though. Tokyogirl79 (talk) 19:35, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Tokyogirl79[reply]
  • Weak Oppose Some people might want to be intrested in just reading about Ryan and knowing his background. House1090 (talk) 03:47, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing to say that a page titled Murder of Jasmine Fiore, with redirects from both "Jasmine Fiore" and "Ryan Jenkins", couldn't include short biographies of both people that included relevant information. If, later on, that information grows to the point that it simply become too long, splitting it out into a "new" article at the site of one of the redirects is a fairly trivial task. No one is suggesting that we remove any information here, we're simply talking about how best to organize it.
    V = I * R (talk) 04:36, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • STRONG support to merge both Jenkin's page and Fiore's pages to "Murder of Jasmine Fiore". May they rest in peace, but neither person were notable when they were alive. I don't see other contestants of the same show have their own page, for example. This case is certainly notable for it involves an international manhunt and media coverage, whether or not we think it warranted the attention. --Kvasir (talk) 18:39, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For this woman to have her own page on Wikipedia is like making a new page for every murder victim of the past 30 years or so. I most definately vote to merge this page to MWAM. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.236.80.165 (talk) 15:49, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The subject of Jasmine Fiore is only tangentially related to the subject the show, and vice versa. Moreover, the notability of both Fiore and MWAM both arguably depend upon her murder and alleged murderer. While I might be persuaded to agree to a move/merger elsewhere, this is a very poor choice on where to merge the article. -- JeffBillman (talk) 18:50, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Ryan Jenkins AND Jasmine Fiore; Ryan Jenkins is related to more than one show, as is Fiore and her connection to him. Having a separate page for relation bears organizational proficiency; plus, it's just not wholly integrable due to several degrees of relation to other articles.-TAz69x (talk) 19:02, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose The event is noteworthy enough to merit it's own page & as others have put down, Ryan Jenkins was the only person on the show- not Fiore. As far as I know this is the first reality dating show contestant to murder someone. There's enough media coverage & notability to warrant keeping the page. Background Check

[edit]

Measurements

[edit]

Drive-byers have twice now, without even a mention in edit summaries, deleted the sourced detail of Fiore's measurements in the infobox. She was a bikini model, people. ↜Just M E here , now 18:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that she was once a bikini model doesn't make her measurements relevant to her biography sidebar. Sarah Palin was a beauty pageant contestant, but no one is rushing to add her measurements to her sidebar. Also, a countless number of male porn actors are listed on Wikipedia, and their penis sizes are not listed in their sidebars. If Fiore's measurements somehow fit into the body of her article, then so be it. But tossing it into the sidebar, while ignoring similar statistics for men is sexist and unnecessarily gratuitous. 17:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refer to WP:NOTCENSORED. Since hair- and eyecolor, height, weight, and (for females) measurements for models are encyclopedic and fields for these various vital statistics are provided within the model infobox template, perhaps a discussion regarding the appropriateness of there being separate standards for men and women could be brought up in an appropriate forum somewhere; however, in my opinion, the measurements should remain in this article, in the time being. ↜Just M E here , now 21:56, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The bio for Rocco Siffredi says he is 9 inches. Siffredi indeed showcases (/-ed?) his use of his sexual organ professionally, although his means of doing so is (/was?) somewhat dissimilar to the way Fiore showcased her augmented mammary glands while bikini modeling (and while performing in loungerie football, bodypainting, etc. events). ↜Just M E here , now 22:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also the body builder Dexter Jackson's measurements are here. ↜Just M E here , now 23:00, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Swimsuit model

[edit]

It's a great catchall that says it all, pretty much. Still, the older terms such as pin-up girl were a little more precisely accurate, I think. (Pix meant to be ogled at. And if it involved live action/acting/dancing/joke telling, it was generally called burlesque.)

That is, what would the kind of modeling Marilyn Monroe did be most appropriately called these days? Bikini modeling? But, then, you see...what if the coquetry involved has absolutely nothing to do with a body of water being nearby? (Tho, come ta think, Fiore had been a crewmember on a huge sailboat cruise company in Santa Cruz as a very young adult. And she promoted Hawaiin Tropic.) But she also promoted sexy golf girls, or lingerie powderpuff football, or artsy body-painting parties, did video for a chat-line ad, served cocktails? Is there a word that says all that without emphasizing the needlessly specific qualifier "swim"? (Just curious what anyone might come up with that should have been on the tip of the media's collective tongue but wasn't, somehow.) ↜Just M E here , now 01:18, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Marriage status

[edit]

Is there a consensus on the Jenkins-Fiore marriage status? Most of the Canadian media report them as ex-husband and ex-wife while in the US they are said to be husband and wife as if they were still married. Media say the marriage was "reportedly" annulled. Can anyone confirm and add this to the article whether or not there was an annulement to clarify things? --Kvasir (talk) 18:33, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AP sez no annulment found in Clarke County, Nev, or L.A. County, Cali. Her married name was Kinkade-Jenkins, if this helps any researcher out there find it (if it had been filed).

  • "She told me she had caught Ryan having sex with some girl in their living room. And that she was leaving Ryan, and she was going to have an annulment." Jasmine thought an annulment would strip Ryan of his visa and he'd have to move back to Canada. "She said that she already sent in the papers," Marta says [...](link)

  • Fiore's mother, Lisa Lepore, told the AP her daughter had the marriage annulled in May. However, there were no court records of an annulment in either Clark County, Nev., where the couple was married, or in Los Angeles County, where they most recently lived.(link)

    ↜Just M E here , now 21:41, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Police said Thursday the couple were married when Fiore died[...]." 28 Aug AP story ↜Just M E here , now 23:31, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jasmine's last name

[edit]

Perhaps somewhat related the authenticy of the marriage, the article gives her two (tecnically three but I think that most readers will consider Fiore a stage name) different last names in the introductory paragraph and biography infobox; Kinkaid and Lapore respectively. How should editors address this inconsistancy?--Kencaesi (talk) 17:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Many questions, with no verified answers, as far as Wiki is concerned, to-date:

  • Was she legally divorced from Cardosi?
  • When she was married Jenkins under the name of Jasmine Kinkade (alternate spelling Kinkaid) had she simply adopted this name?
  • Or was Kinkade her longstanding name, legally (with Jasmine Lapore having been the name that had merely been "adopted," during childhood, to match her mother's)?

I don't know if this lead will help, but Jasmine asserted on her marriage certificate that she was born in Arizona. ↜Just M E here , now 00:08, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen her birth name reported as both Lepore with an "e" and Lapore with an "a". Google hits are far more numerous on the "e" (Lepore) variation, for whatever that's worth. Does anyone know for sure and have a good source? Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro, 8 September 2009)

Vehicles, teeth, and fingers

[edit]

I have added to the article the fact that Fiore's vehicle was found today in West Hollywood. It's in the lead graph for now. The L.A. Times is the source.

Her teeth and fingers remain missing. Their missingness is also missing from the article. Many sources cite this. Here's one from the Orange County Regster: [1]. I think that the missing teeth and fingers should go into the article, subject to disucssion. Sure, it's gruesome -- but the crime investigation is seeking to determine where the finger-chopping and teeth-pulling was done.

Then there's the matter of the missing PT Cruiser: More breaking news from the same OCRegister site: [2].

The Canadian police have identified a woman who drove Jenkins in a silver PT cruiser and checked him in at the Thunderbird Motel in Hope, British Columbia, where he was discovered dead. However, they have declined to reveal her identity, citing the ongoing investigation. The Vancouver Sun, a British Columbia newspaper, reported finding a silver PT Cruiser with Alberta plates in a parking garage in a downtown Vancouver condominium complex that matches the description of the vehicle seen dropping Jenkins at the motel. Jenkins’s half-sister, Alena Jenkins, lives in the condominium complex, the Sun reported. [...] Canada’s CanWest News Service learned through court records that Jenkins’ father, Calgary architect Dan Jenkins, owns a PT Cruiser. It’s unclear whether it is the same vehicle that was found at the condominium complex.

Just saving the PT Cruiser stuff here for now, but let's use it if it leads to something

Reaction by VH1

[edit]

Pardon my remarks, but I knew nothing about this case before reading the article. However, the paragraph that begins "The day after Jenkins' death, VH1 officially announced the show was canceled," is confusing. What, pray tell, cannot be confirmed; what was announced, or what was reported. But wait, if something was announced or reported, surely it can be confirmed. And what is the alleged reason for the inability to confirm? Is it what the 51 minds spokesman said, or what Jenkins tried to do? I'm lost. Please clarify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wbfairer2 (talkcontribs) 06:05, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
