"Current and Future Collegiate Athletes"
[edit]Are college athletes really worthy of inclusion on Wikipedia? I'm not saying they are not; but I am asking the MC and Wiki community to discuss this. I think professional athletes are absolutely worthy of discussion on this page, but if you list collegiate athletes from the current enrollment, you have to add all of the athletes from all prior years- and that could be a very very long list- and people will almost certainly be left out (and possibly be offended).
I'm also wondering if the person who added those athletes was only copying Loyola and Brother Rice.. which, I hope they were not. Just b/c those schools list their college athletes as famous alumni does not mean MC has to do that.
a note on alumni
[edit]As of this date, the alumni are (except for one) properly referenced and cited. Please do not add any alumni to this list unless they are properly referenced and cited by a reliable source. Any alum added without proper sourcing may be deleted without warning. Also, do not add alumni unless they are already the subject of a wikipedia article, or would be eligible for one under the general notability policy (or through the personal notability guidelines). LonelyBeacon (talk) 21:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
I have removed the following alum:
I could not find a reliable source to identify him as an alum. If a source is found, please re-add him with proper citing. LonelyBeacon (talk) 02:26, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject class rating
[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:25, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I am giving this article a provisional push to "Mid class" importance in the Wikischools project because of its history and long list of notable alumni. LonelyBeacon (talk) 21:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools after a request as B / High. Firstly, the combination of history, athletics supreme court incident, notable alumni, and notable teachers are enough to give the article High-importance. The article is developing well and is of good enough quality for B-class, the alumni sections are particularly good. The academics section needs more referencing and perhaps should be altered to look less like a list; the campus and history sections are also missing references. The history does not seem complete, as it goes little further than the 1970s. Finally, the lead section could do with expansion to summarise the article a bit better.
