Dollens started reading sf in 1933. The ref to 1920s is probably incorrect.
The article says that he died in 1984 but also that he continued selling his paintings at sf conventions until 1989. This is either quite an accomplishment, or else a statement in need of more careful elaboration.
Many of his planetscape paintings were done in acrylic on masonite, and are thus not harmed by hanging them in damp environments such as the bathroom. Mine hung there for years.
It might be nice if we could reproduce a one of the slides of his paintings. Who controls his estate?
