" The crater was discovered in 1966." - this can be read as that it was first found then, when the body indicates that it was known as early as 1962. Recommend rephrasing this somehow to reflect that. Maybe "identified" instead of "discovered"?

The crater is the depression at the centre of the image

... that Monturaqui crater (pictured) in Chile is threatened by human action? However, it does not count with any legal standing that may protect it, although there are a number of present and potential factors that threaten to damage it
