Education?

[edit]

There is an empty section named Education. Not sure why it was there to start with. Unless somebody objects I will delete it.ElijahBosley (talk ☞) 19:59, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That section has helpfully been filled up with info. I note the info on how many pupils are there is from 2005, and it is now 2014. But hey, its a start.ElijahBosley (talk ☞) 22:18, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Elijah. I didn't find any reliable sources with newer info. Education websites suggest two students, as of 2011. Sincerely, User:HopsonRoad 22:20, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sears Gallagher

[edit]

A good faith editor sought to include two images involving Mr. Sears Gallagher: one of him painting en plain air; the other his sketch of the Monhegan Village. I deleted Gallagher painting because the article is about Monhegan, not Mr. Gallagher. One might as well include a picture of a lobsterman lobstering. Come to think of it there are some nice ones. Though probably not available on Wikipeida Commons. If we need an image of an artist in the act of painting, there are other artists far more famous. I do applaud using art to illustrate the art colony, but let's not overdo it. If necessary we can do a List of Artists of Monhegan, or a List of Paintings of Mohegan.ElijahBosley (talk ☞) 20:45, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the intent of User:ElijahBosley. Certainly Gallagher does not deserve more billing than other artists of Mohegan. My aim in posting the picture was to depict an artist pursuing his/her discipline. The image of Gallagher is a dramatic photograph. I have dialed down the emphasis on Gallagher by captioning it, "Artist painting fisherman en plein air at Fish Beach. Photo by Warner Taylor." This illustrates what artists do to this day. I'll review my own images of artists on Monhegan and see if any are suitable for Commons. Sincerely, User:HopsonRoad 01:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Persistent addition of telephone exchange to infobox

[edit]

One or more IP editors persistently adds the telephone exchange to the Area code entry in the Template:Infobox settlement, in a manner not supported by the template. I'm tired of reverting these edits and re-explaining that the template is not designed for that level of granularity and that telephone exchanges are not of encyclopedic interest. Is there some other way to handle this? The two IP numbers appear to be similar. Sincerely, HopsonRoad (talk) 17:35, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've protected the article. Hopefully the person will come here to discuss. 331dot (talk) 20:10, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
