[edit]

I dont usually edit pages but I found a picture showing irans resources. Its an updated picture of the one already shown at the top of the page and it is from the same site, it is govt property.

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/atlas_middle_east/iran_econ.jpg

It is on this page http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/atlas_middle_east/atlas_middle_east.html in the iran section, it is called economic activity.

There are a bunch of other maps as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peoplez1k (talkcontribs) 18:16, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I became interested in Iran's mining sector so I checked out this page. It doesn't appear to be well referenced, however. Take the first sentence as an example.

"Mining in Iran is underdeveloped" -- the reference is an Iranian online media company by the name of PressTv. " yet the country is one of the most important mineral producers in the world, ranked among 15 major mineral-rich countries," - the reference directs you to http://www.infomine.com/countries/mining-iran which contains no information on '15 major mineral rich countries', in fact the page contains no information at all, only links to various issues related to Iran's mining sector. The reference is better than PressTV but the link needs to be specific and related to 15 major mineral rich countries

" holding some 68 types of minerals, 37 billion tonnes of proven reserves and more than 57 billion tonnes of potential reserves worth $770 billion in 2014" the link doesn't even work [[1][dead link] Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; name "iran-daily.com" defined multiple times with different content (see the help page)] and the second link directs you to an Iranian website which doesn't appear to contain any information.

"Mineral production contributes only 0.6 per cent to the country’s GDP" - reference is PressTV and it is invalid, link doesn't work

"Add other mining-related industries and this figure increases to just four per cent (2005). Many factors have contributed to this, namely lack of suitable infrastructure, legal barriers, exploration difficulties, and government control over all resources." - no reference. still questionable claim at best given quality of previous references
